FEATURED ARTISTS:

Rooted in vocal harmonies and acoustic melodies, The Heart Of captures the emotion and imagination of listeners through eccentric story-telling and cinematic songs. With a notebook bursting at the seams with songs, The Heart Of was brought to life in a farmhouse in Bronson, Michigan, where their debut EP was recorded. The Heart Of released "Empire," a first taste of the project, this fall while supporting artist Ron Pope on tour in cities all across the world.

As a followup to their debut 4-song EP, “Superconductors,” this new album captures the electric energy of a Local Motive performance, bursting with lyrical messages, irresistible soulful melodies, and the spirit of old-school rhythm & blues. The “Grams” LP is bookended by “Twig” & "Symbiosis" to begin & end on a hopeful note, lyrically & musically, but the album also delves into darker tones, commenting on universal struggles of identity on tracks like “Killer” & “High Life.”

Influences of soul legends are apparent in both the singing of Chilean vocalist, Daniella Rojas & Chicago-native, Mike Vinopal, along with their contemporaries like Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys, & Gary Clark Jr. This powerful new record from Local Motive is a fully-realized statement of new songs from the band that flows from start to finish, with loads of hooks that you’ll be whistling to yourself the next morning.

Emily Keener is a songwriter from the great land of Ohio with a heart that's been set on music for most of her life. Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and Jeff Buckley are a few of many legendary artists that ushered her into lyricism and instilled a love of melody and depth in composition. It became a dream, then an obsession, then a gaze set on a lifelong occupation of raw, real storytelling. Emily is beginning to tour while recording her fourth studio album.

Alec Lehrman is a Chicago-based musician who has shared the stage with top acts including Chance the Rapper, Charles Bradley, Caleb Hawley, JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound, and the JB's. The up-and-coming guitarist/vocalist toured three continents in 2016 alone, and cites some of his biggest influences as Stevie Wonder, D'Angelo, Jimi Hendrix, and John Mayer. His blues-infused style and soulful sensibility have earned him spotlights in iconic venues across the country, ranging from the Apollo Theatre in NYC to the House of Blues in The Windy City.
CATHERINE HARRISON

Catherine Harrison is an active member of the Toronto area music community: writing, recording, performing original music - and is passionate about supporting and cultivating vibrant opportunities to create cool experiences together.

She co-created, hosted and performed at the "For the Love of Buckley: Jeff Buckley Tribute" shows in Toronto, 2002-2012, and has been a guest performer at the Chicago shows in 2001, 2006, 2007, 2009 and now 2017. The people she has met through both city's events have become lifelong friends and collaborators, and she is thrilled to be back for the 20th anniversary show to celebrate the life and legacy.

Songwriter/Guitarist/Saxophonist Wes John Cichosz seamlessly weaves elements of rock, blues, jazz, and folk in his intensely personal writing style. Gritty slide guitar and quirky saxophone pepper the sonic landscape, and acoustic guitar-driven songs are surrounded by lush winds and piano. Wes’s latest album, The Moon Threads a Needle, is now available on Spotify and all other major streaming platforms.

By blending finely tuned lyricism with both traditional and electronic instruments, Jory Avner strives to create sound-scapes that are both atmospherically complex and yet succinct in terms of narrative. He has been writing and performing music for over ten years, evolving from modest bedroom recordings to fully realized multi-instrumental arrangements. After releasing his first solo album 'Somewhere In Between' in 2015, Jory immediately began work on his follow up album 'Far and Away' which is currently in the process of being recorded. Outside of writing, teaching and playing music on a daily basis, Jory is director and co-founder of the 'Half Glass Records' artist community and the 'Little Sunday Sessions' Youtube Channel.

The Locals are an alt-pop, indie-rock trio from Chicago. The band is fronted by singer/ guitarist/ songwriter Yvonne Doll, co-founded by
bass player Christy Nunes.

The Locals have been a part of the Chicago music scene for over a
decade. The band has toured extensively in the US and played some
dates in the UK. Working once again with producer, Steven Gillis at Transient Sound, the Locals are currently in the studio recording a new, full length cd (due out early Winter 2018)

The music is bright, guitar-laden, ultra catchy, alt-pop, that delivers
tasty ear bits from each song's start to finish. Fans of The Pixies,
Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Silversun Pickups will not be disappointed.

Long before the first volume of his 2x4 EP series, everything about Chicago R&B/soul sensation Aryk Crowder has been about building a sturdy, tangible structure on which his unique vision can thrive. From his early four-track recordings in a studio apartment to recent grass-roots efforts in crowd-sourcing and charity work to the hand-stamped artwork and distribution of 2x4, it's all innovative, creative and certainly DIY, but Crowder's ethic also hearkens back to a time before DIY was hip or underground. With his own two hands, Crowder isn't building walls in order to stand-out, so much as bridges.

Crowder's connections to his fans and his city are far from done when the final note is sung or the last instrument cable is wrapped up for the night. He's bringing human emotion (and handmade keepsakes in which to collect them) back in an age of a point-and-click music industry.

Laura Joy is an NPR featured, award-winning, nationally touring artist with an eclectic song list of popular tunes (60s - Today's Top 40) and original music. Laura Joy and her band have been known to quell dark, angry bars full of ornery old Irishmen. With comparisons that range from Joni Mitchell to Natalie Merchant, Laura's percussive finger picking and buoyant voice have graced audiences from as far as the Sun Belt to the streets of Manhattan.

This year, Laura was featured on Paste Magazine's Daytrotter, the Great River Folk Festival Songwriter Contest in LaCrosse, WI and the Acorn Theater Songwriter Contest in Three Oaks, MI.

Singer-songwriter Patrick Gemkow 's wide vocal range, high falsetto paired and dynamic guitar playing takes his fans and crowds on a beautiful melodic roller coaster ride. His music and sound is heavily influenced by Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Otis Redding and Jeff Buckley. Patrick is currently in the process of recording his first solo album, set to be released in summer 2018.
