ASES News - May 2016
2016 International Congress of Shoulder &
Elbow Surgery (ICSES)

by Jesse B. Jupiter, MD, ASES President

The International Congress of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ICSES) as well as the International Congress of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists (ICSET) was held on JeJu Island, South Korea, on May 18th - 20th.  Kudos goes to Drs. Yong-Girl Rhee, Jin-Young Park, Joo Han Oh, and In-Ho Jeon, as well as their colleagues, for an extraordinary program. 1700 surgeons and therapists from 60 countries were in attendance.

The ASES was very well represented with 90 presentations including in ICLs, free papers, and moderations.

Several of our members received special recognition.

Additional highlights were the alumni meetings of former fellows hosted by the programs of Columbia, Mayo, Cleveland, Johns Hopkins, and the Hawkins Fellowship reflecting on the enormous impact the ASES training programs on Shoulder and Elbow surgery world-wide.

Louis U. Bigliani, MD

Louis Bigliani ended his successful term as President of the International Board of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons having steered the organization to greater academic and social levels.
Finally, unfortunately, our bid to host the 2022 was narrowly (19-16) out voted by the European city of Rome, Italy.  We will try again in 2019 for certain.
