6 QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN CHOOSING A SECURITY TRAINING PROGRAM

Whether you're looking to advance your career, improve your security skills or train your security team, there's no shortage
of training programs.

Is a one-day, US$500 class going to teach you what you need
to know? Is a three-day class three times better? Should you concentrate on gaining skills or earning certifications? Is a
former Navy SEAL or Army Ranger a better instructor than a former U.S. Secret Service agent?

The short answer is, there is no single best program for
everyone. Consider these factors and ask these questions of
the program - and yourself - to make the choice that's best for
you and your organization.
HOW TO BUILD A PROTECTION TEAM

There's no such thing as a "one size fits all" protection strategy. Like any other situation, the goals, needs and resources should define the members of your security team.

And, like any other team, details are critical.

The starting point should be a comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessment, which will define the level of sophistication your security program may require.

HOLIDAY TRAVEL SAFETY TIPS

We wish you a happy and safe holiday season. Should your plans include travel, consider these steps to minimize your chances of being victimized or inconvenienced.

- Pack sensitive or proprietary information in your carry-on luggage.

- Book a non-stop flight to minimize your exposure to theft between flights.

- Allow extra time for busy periods and special circumstances at the airport.

- Expect to have your bags searched.

- Leave gifts unwrapped until after you arrive at your destination.
