FALL IS A VERY IMPORTANT TIME IN THE LANDSCAPE & COMPLETING THESE TASKS WILL ENSURE MORE VIBRANT GROWTH NEXT SPRING!
APPLY DORMANT OIL
With the mild winter we had last year, insects such as the Viburnum Beetle have been doing significant damage to plants. Apply Dormant/All Season Horticultural Oil to the stems of your shrubs after they have dropped all their leaves. **Remember to apply above 40 degrees**

APPLY WILT-PRUF
Protect your evergreen plants from the harsh winter winds by applying Wilt-Pruf. This will prevent the unsightly brown coloration of winter "wind burn" next spring. Always remember to apply between 40 & 50 degrees and read the label for more important information.

WATER PLANTS BEFORE FROST
Plants that are stressed because of dry conditions ahead of cold temperatures are more likely to show die back in the spring compared to plants that were watered thoroughly in the fall.

APPLY MULCH TO PLANTS
Applying mulch in the fall helps to maintain good moisture levels around plants, minimizes the effects of freezing/thawing of the ground, and helps insulate the roots during the cold winter months.

WRAP SHADE TREES
In case we get a brutally cold winter, wrap the trunk of your shade trees with tree wrap to prevent damage from winter winds and ice. Shade trees such as Maples have a natural tendency to "frost crack" since they are a fast grower type of tree with slightly weaker bark.

CLEANUP PLANT LITTER
Leaf litter can house over wintering insect casings & fungal disease spores so make sure to remove & dispose of all the leaves that come down this fall to prevent new pests for next spring.
