Parent Connection

They're Back!

I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your holiday season and were able to spend special times with your family and close friends. I also hope your time with your AU college student(s) was meaningful ... whether or not it was plentiful. I actually didn't get to see our son, Levi, very much over his AU break ... or at least as much as I would have liked ... but the time I did spend with him was wonderful.

The students have all been back for a week now, and it's great to have everyone back on campus. It's pretty quiet around here when they're gone. One fun weekend coming up (when it's definitely not quiet around here) is Lil' Sibs Weekend in February for any younger siblings, cousins, etc. of our AU students. In the next section of this newsletter, Drew Beechler, who is a junior marketing major working in our Alumni Office, provides all the needed info about this special weekend on our campus. Check it out.

I also want to make sure you are aware of the phenomenal services available to your student through our security services team. During this time of year, with the longer and colder nights, many of our students take advantage of our on-campus evening shuttle bus. The bus runs a continuous loop Sunday through Thursday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. There are flyers all around campus with the route and listed stops, as well as on the AU website under the Police/Security Services tab, which is under the Student Links tab.

In addition to the shuttle service, female students walking by themselves can request a security escort any time by dialing # 3333 (they should program # 765-641-3333 into their cell phones). For a great overview of everything our Security Services team offers to keep our campus safe, check out this quick video here and know that the safety and well-being of your child is absolutely the top priority here at Anderson University.

I hope your year is off to a great start!

Blessings to all parents who love their children.

Lil' Sibs Weekend

reunions

Every February during one special weekend one can walk around the Anderson University campus and see a wonderful sight:  AU students walking through the valley and to events with their little brother, sister, or cousin (many of whom might also be future AU Ravens). Each year the Campus Activities Board (CAB) sponsors "Lil' Sibs Weekend" to give students a chance to let their younger siblings, cousins, or other family members come visit for a weekend and see what it's like to live on a college campus while having some fun with their older brother or sister.

As you probably know, no classes met Monday in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Many students and faculty instead participated in a number of volunteer activities throughout the community. Last year was the first year for this at AU and below is a video on the events that took place last year.
