Seasons Change and Children Grow Up
Greetings Fellow AU Parents!
I hope you're enjoying the changing season. Here on campus, the air has become crisp and the leaves are turning colors. My office faces the Valley and I am blessed to have a most spectacular view of the changing seasons! This time of year (and a new school year) always makes me realize how fast time goes by . . . and how quickly our children grow up. Our son, Levi, who's a junior here at AU, just turned 21 last week, and I found myself surprised that somehow I am the mother of an adult. When did that happen?
No matter the age of our children, they will always be our babies . . . for whom we feel responsible and of whom we are fiercely protective. One of my favorite children's books (maybe yours, too) is "Love You Forever," which I read to Levi many, many times when he was young. The main repeated theme goes like this:
I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always---as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.
Because the safety of our children is always on our minds, no matter their age (my Mom still reminds me to drive carefully, slow down in the rain, be extra careful when walking on icy sidewalks, etc.), I know you are concerned about the safety and well-being of your child or children, on and off campus, like I am. I thought you might like to know more about the wonderful security force on the AU campus, so please check out the video at the bottom of this newsletter. And . . . for even more information you can also go to: http://www.anderson.edu/security/.
We hope to see you on campus next weekend for Homecoming. GO RAVENS!!
Blessings to all parents who love their children. Elyse
