Greetings!

As the headline of this Update states, Autocourse 2012/13 has finally arrived here in the US and is available for immediate delivery at The Motorsport Collector ($69.99 plus shipping). This year's Edition is spectacular as usual and the Top Ten rankings for 2012 bring a few surprises. Order HERE.

We've spent much (most?) of January waiting in vain for shipments to arrive from our major suppliers. We've spent some of that time updating our website with information we think you can use.

 - First, we now log every new arrival - new item or restock - on the front page of www.MotorsportCollector.com. We'll be adding other items of interest to that page on a regular basis from now on.

- We've also modified our 'Incoming ModelShipments' page so you can monitor incoming model shipments a bit better. Of course, the accuracy of this page depends on the information we receive from our primary suppliers. You will notice that we have a list of Spark and TSM due to arrive in a month, but no information on the shipment we expect next week. And you thought this was easy!

Speaking of the model companies, New Product Announcements are coming out of Germany this week. You can scan them below:

We'll post other lists at www.MotorsportCollector.com as we receive them. We will accept advance orders for anything listed but as experienced collectors are aware, we are anywhere from 1 to 3 years away from seeing any of these new items and prices in many cases will be higher than originally announced.

You will notice that Minichamps has announced their intention to do J-P Jarier and Hector Rebaque versions of their 1/18 scale Lotus 79. Those of you who have been patiently waiting 4-5 years for additional production of the Mario Andretti and Ronnie Peterson versions don't have to call us. We've already asked. One update we can give you on that subject: Expect the price of any new production of the original releases to be at the price level announced for the 'new' versions.

If you find yourself in the Chicago area this weekend, I'd like to call your attention to two events you may enjoy:

 - 'On the Road to Glory', a tribute to Fred Lorenzen at the Elmhurst Historical Museum will officially open tomorrow, February 1 and run through May 19. The exhibit features trophies, memorabilia, video and other highlights honoring the career of the 1965 Daytona 500 winner. An Opening Reception - featuring a Fred Lorenzen #28 Tribute car - will be held this evening from 5-7. The reception is free to members, $10 for non members. Call 630.833.1457 to make a reservation.

- MIRPA, The Meadowdale International Raceways Preservation Association welcomes Janet Guthrie as the guest of honor at their 4th Annual Winter Banquet, this Saturday, February 2. Tickets are available for the Banquet and a special luncheon at Bob McKee's race shop. Visit www.MIRPA.org for further information.

There was a lot of 'local' success at Daytona last weekend with the Napleton Porsche and WeatherTech Audi taking class wins. Both companies are located within minutes of TMC here in Downers Grove.

Congratulations guys!

 - Paul

AMG 45: The Story - The Cars
by Clauspeter Becker, Markus Bolsinger, Michael Clauss, Frank Muhling, Hans Schilder & Achim Peitzmeier

To want the impossible is typical for AMG. In this respect it comes as no surprise that they set the bar very high once again in Affalterbach when they resolved to create a print retrospective in which all AMG models ever made would find a place. The occasion for the mammoth endeavour is the 45th anniversary of the brand in June 2012. AMG: The Story - The Cars chronicle comprises no fewer than 474 pages and provides all the essential information on exactly 117 AMG models: the technical specifications, the driving experience, the visuals. Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher have opened their private archives for this detailed and affectionate story of the company they co-founded and have helped to shape this work. The AMG Media Archive conducted months of painstaking research, the team of authors subsequently arranged their results in an insightful way, and the photo editors selected the most outstanding images - some previously unpublished.
