HFBC Receives Funding For Expansion
The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) Office of Family Planning and Home Visiting has been awarded federal funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for "Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program Expansion." The goal of this funding is to expand home visiting programs, including Abilities Network's Healthy Families Baltimore County (HFBC) program!
"We are excited about the opportunity to expand and enhance home visiting services in Baltimore County," said Tomeaka Jupiter, Director of Program Development/HFBC. "The MIECHV funding has opened doors for new partnerships within the county and staff are looking forward to working with families to increase positive outcomes for children."
The HFBC team hosts a "Family Fun Day" for
participating families in the program.
With this new funding, HFBC will be able to provide enhanced home visiting services to families that reside in the Essex and Dundalk areas of Baltimore County, Md. To provide these services, HFBC will expand to include an additional supervisor and two additional Family Support Workers. In addition to the core home visiting services, these families will receive in-home access to a nurse that can support them with addressing health needs.
Abilities Network's HFBC program works with new mothers and fathers to develop supportive, enriching parenting practices that help their children and families grow to realize their fullest potential. To learn more about the HFBC program and its important work, visit www.abilitiesnetwork.og or call 410-828-7700.
