Fund-A-Need 2017: Science!
Dear Families,
The new Missouri Science Standards - the first updated science standards in more than 15 years - are being implemented now in Missouri. They are based on the national Next Generation Science Standards. Our science teachers are going to workshops now to learn the new standards and how to teach them.
Our classrooms need to be ready. We need new science equipment! Test tubes, beakers, electricity kits. Sharing is great -- but one microscope for an entire class?
Our students need challenging field trips. We need new textbooks and online resources. This is our Fund-A-Need this year.
Thanks to the PTSO, the
Evening in Paris
gala, A Modern Masquerade, will fill the night with playful subterfuge on April 29 at the Uptown Theater. The Fund-A-Need auction will highlight the evening as guests join together to support updating our science classrooms.
Our goal: $37,000
Click here to see our Fund-A-Need video. You can make an early donation
here.
Your gifts will give students the hands on experiences and vision to embrace the science and engineering skills of the 21st Century!
Pro tip: I just learned that you can bid on EIP auction items AND Fund-A-Need starting tomorrow -- by clicking here.
Sincerely,
Elimane Mbengue

Goodbyes And End Of Year Testing
Dear AL families,
A huge thanks to the 47 families that hosted the French students and the staff members who hosted the 5 chaperones. Two weeks ago we wrote about the French students arriving. Well sadly they are leaving
on Friday and
Saturday (two different groups/two different days). We had great fun and did many activities with them. They were able to have a wonderful taste of our great city by visiting the Sprint Center, WWI museum, Science City, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Arthur Bryant's BBQ, to name a few. The richness the families and community provided to these young people is truly priceless. We are realizing our mission statement with this exchange program!
On another note, MAP testing starts on
Monday, April 24. The best things to do is to
encourage your child to do his/her best, make sure he/she has had a good nights sleep, and don't stress out over the test.
Thanks for all you do parents!

INFO SHARING
The Early Bird deadline -- turn in $40 in sponsorships to secure your Musketeer March t-shirt -- is next Monday, April 24, but thanks to early PayPal gifts, the Cherry campus is ahead in securing sponsorships. If you want to help your child raise sponsorships, click here.
Did you know? If every student turned in $40.00 on Monday we would raise $37,000 or $12,000 more than our goal! Will you help?
Remember -- the Early Bird deadline is MONDAY, April 24! Thank you for your support.

painless fundraising
The Painless Fundraising Committee will be collecting labels at the end of April so please send in all Box Tops, Best Choice (including Clearly Organic) and Tyson A+ labels to your teachers. Please be sure to label your baggie with your teacher's name so that your class gets credit.
If you have a lot of labels, it would speed up counting
if you could separate them into different baggies by label type. The class with the most labels will win an ice cream social at the end of the school year! This is an ongoing program so please continue collecting throughout the year.
If you are interested in helping us count on Sunday, May 7th, or have questions about the painless fundraising program, please contact Lynne Yarnevich at
lynneporthouse@hotmail.com.
