Annual Report 2014
Look back on Acadia Center's highlights of 2014 in the interactive annual report.
Rethinking Additional Natural Gas Capacity in Massachusetts
Massachusetts and other states are exploring expansion of natural gas infrastructure. Acadia Center is working to make sure options for clean, affordable energy are explored before committing ratepayer dollars to this project. As part of this effort Acadia Center and 11 co-signers issued comments in DPU Docket 15-37 arguing it would be premature for the Department to allow electric distribution utilities to purchase new natural gas delivery capacity before further investigation in to critical questions such as the legality of their plan, factors behind electricity price spikes and what clean energy alternatives can be used to address this regional issue in better, more cost-effective ways than ratepayer-supported gas infrastructure. Acadia Center strongly supports the Attorney General's office moving forward with a study to evaluate such alternatives by early fall, and looks forward to working with other stakeholders to ensure the study is as useful as possible.
Weatherization and Energy Efficiency as a Resource
How does weatherization compare to energy efficiency resource acquisition? Why are energy efficiency programs even needed? Acadia Center  answers these questions and more  about weatherization and energy efficiency as a resource. Acadia Center experts Abigail Anthony and Jamie Howland address the challenges involving weatherization and energy efficiency and why they are important to implement despite these barriers.

Envisioning the Energy Future for Rhode Island
On June 26, Acadia Center hosted a discussion at the Rhode Island Foundation on what it will take to achieve a new system that meets our energy needs and supports a fair, healthy economy and environment. The Providence Journal reported the highlights on some of the demand-reducing programs in Rhode Island, and SouthCoast Today noted connections to energy issues on the southern coast of Massachusetts.
