Technology Promotes Access
Sean J. Smith, PhD, Associate Professor at the University of Kansas, father, and presenter at the Together We Can Learn Conference, will focus on technology-based solutions (low, mid, and high tech) as well as ways family members can further enhance their involvement in the identification, implementation, and evaluation of technology tools to assist their son or daughter with a disability. Discover how technology can reduce a student's reliance on parents, siblings, friends and teachers, helping foster not only access to the general education curriculum but also improving self-esteem. The program is working on planning for future services and as part of that process and how they can serve families better. So, they need to hear from you!
This survey is one part of the process to identify how they can best serve families in Kansas. If you are willing to share your thoughts and help them in their planning, please fill out the survey online. This survey will close on February 14, 2014 at 5:00 pm. Please contact Kayzy Bigler, Heather Smith, or Geno Fernandez at 1-800-332-6262 or their e-mail for additional information or questions. Also, for more information about the SHCN program, call or email us at the information above. . Thank you!

Frequently Asked Question
"How to resolve issues between parents and schools?"
Parents want the "best" education for their children. Schools are only required to provide "appropriate" services for children with disabilities. Conflict between parents and schools is normal and inevitable.
