Recent News: ASHE PDC Conference

ASHE PDC Conference

Ben Davenny represented Acentech at the American Society for Healthcare Engineering's 2012 International Summit & Exhibition on Health Facility Planning Design & Construction (ASHE PDC 2012 for short.) The keynote address was given by T.R. Reid, a reporter who described the various models of healthcare payment throughout the world and how all of them can be found in the US, which may be contributing to our healthcare costs.  Other plenary sessions tackled the issues of reimbursements changing from volume-based to value-based and how health care design needs to help hospitals meet quality measures necessary for reimbursement.

Ben attended several concurrent sessions, which included discussions of ergonomics and healthcare technology, healthcare systems engineering, green codes and guidelines, and lastly, changes to the FGI Guidelines.  Ben looks forward to seeing you next year at ASHE PDC 2013!

Project Spotlight: University of Connecticut Health Care Research Tower

U Conn Health Temp

The transformation of the University of Connecticut Health Center's Cell and Genome Sciences Building in Farmington from a nondescript, late-1970s industrial research building into a state-of-the-art university research facility demonstrates how older buildings can find new life.  Acentech consulted on acoustics and AV system design for this project, which was named 2011 Laboratory of the Year (Renovation) by R&D Magazine.

Learn More: AV in the Operating Room
OR AV
Today's operating rooms are more technologically sophisticated than ever before. It's becoming increasingly important to keep the big picture in mind when designing ORs. To have an effective and reliable OR, the equipment, data network and AV technology should be approached as inter-related parts of the whole, and designed as such.
