This Month's Focus:
Achieving a Robust Third Party Risk Program
A Wave is building in Support of Certified Training for Risk Professionals
The Shared Assessments member survey identified a growing mandate within organizations to require certification for their third party risk professionals. Another market trend driving certification is the increased focus internationally on third party risk and the market demand for the specialized skill set that a robust risk management program requires, both in the trenches and at the C-Suite and Board levels. Certified training is of benefit not only to the organization. It also provides a leg up for professionals who can use their certifications as a means of highlighting and verifying their experience as they gain momentum along their career path.

DID YOU KNOW?
The lack of appropriate training for security professionals is evident globally.
  • Just 7% of organizations surveyed report having a cybersecurity expert on their executive team and just 29% reported having a cybersecurity expert in their IT department (Spiceworks, 2016).
  • Nearly 65% of all entry-level cybersecurity applicants lacked the requisite skills for the position for which they were applying (ISACA and RSA Conference Survey, 2016).
  • While 97% of company's report delivering security training at least once a year, 43% of those say they waited until after a public breach to step up their security training (Cisco, 2016).
