ACTION ALERT!

Greetings!

Tomorrow, one brave 16-year old transgender boy from Manteca will travel to Sacramento and urge the Governor to sign AB 1266, the School Success and Opportunity Act. Will you stand with himWe need you to sign Ashton's petition by 5pm today so that he can present 5,000 signatures to Governor Jerry Brown!

Ashton

"The California legislature passed a bill that would finally allow me go to school as myself - a regular boy.

But first Governor Brown must sign it.

By prohibiting discrimination against transgender students, the School Success and Opportunity Act (AB 1266) would ensure schools understand their responsibility for the success and well-being of all students. For me, this bill means I'd be able to fully participate in all of my classes, try out for sports teams, and stay on track to graduate.

Tell Governor Brown: please sign AB 1266 and help make our schools places where everyone can succeed.  By signing this bill into law, he can help ensure students like me can stay in school and graduate."

Bill co-sponsors Transgender Law Center, Equality California, GSA Network, National Center for Lesbian Rights, and Gender Spectrum will be with Ashton tomorrow as he heads to the Governor's office. Follow along at facebook.com/translawcenter.

Please sign today to stand with Ashton and make sure your voice is heard.

With hope,
