October 27, 2011

,

Voting in the Open Data Race ends tonight at midnight. Thanks to your incredible help, we have run a competitive race for the lead. We are in second place, within sight of first!

You are allowed to vote one time per week! Please vote one last time today to release bike theft data from the Philadelphia Police Department. Your vote will accomplish two big things:
  1. Releasing bike theft data will allow us to create hot spot maps, which will in turn be used to focus police enforcement campaigns and educate bicyclists about high risk areas.
  2. First prize is $2,000, money which we will put towards keeping the totally snazzy bike corral in Philadelphia (otherwise, it gets returned to Dero in Minnesota).
When we put out the call for votes last Wednesday, your response catapulted us into first place. We are now about 100 votes behind the lead. We cannot imagine a greater return on a tiny investment of time to make your bike ride better.

Voting is free and easy. Here's how you can help stop bike theft and increase innovative bike parking in Philadelphia:
  1. Go to the OpenDataRace.
  2. Register (if you have not voted before).

  3. Find the Bicycle Coalition's entry for Bike Theft Locations
  4. Vote!

If everyone receiving this e-mail took 2 minutes to vote (10 seconds if you've already voted), we would score a dazzling victory for bicycling in Philadelphia. Thank you for taking action.
