ABC BOARD MEMBERS HAVE FUN AND THEY GET STUFF DONE!

That's right, once each month ABC Board members meet, listen to reports on chapter and industry activity, discuss, comment, make recommendations, vote on policy decisions and interact with industry peers at a level that is not available anywhere but as a member of ABC's Board of Directors. They are active, engaged, focused on results and having a little fun. The personal and professional growth opportunities realized from participating on the ABC Board are documented and invaluable.

Currently, the chapter nominations process for the 2016 Board of Directors is underway. Through the natural progression of chapter leadership, a couple of Board vacancies are available. It is important the Nominations Committee makes members aware of the nominations process and requests any member who may be interested in serving on ABC's Board of Directors to contact the Chapter Office. We will provide further information with details about the process and the commitment and responsibilities to interested members. If you would like information about participation as an ABC leader, click here. Your interest in leadership will be appreciated and is important to the continued success of ABC.

ANNUAL WAGE AND BENEFIT SURVEY DATA COLLECTED

The NH/VT ABC Chapter is now collecting data for its annual Wage & Benefit Survey. The survey can be completed online this year; it is very user friendly and a quick easy process! Click here to complete the survey and please help ABC help you by participating. If you are not the correct company contact to complete the survey, please forward the survey to the correct contact. If you would like a copy of last year's survey results please contact the NH/VT Chapter office.

This anonymous survey is the only one of its kind available in our area. The survey data is extremely important to members' efforts to understand current wage and benefit practices and to maintain competitive practices to attract and retain quality employees. In addition to ABC Members, the results are made available to owners who may be purchasing construction services and are subjected to union campaigns that include inaccurate statements about merit shop wage and benefit practices. The survey results provide factual data to counter the anecdotal references made by union representatives.  The survey results are also used in the legislative arena and other public policy decision making forums to provide documented evidence of the wage and benefit practices of merit shop contractors.
YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO INFLUENCE FEDERAL PREVAILING WAGE AND BENEFIT AMOUNTS

Reminder, the US Department of Labor is conducting a survey of Building and Heavy construction projects active and on going between 4/1/14 and 3/31/15 in the state of New Hampshire. Any project with a value of $2000 or more, public or private is included. The data must be submitted by 2/5/16. The electronic form is available by clicking here Hard copies may be obtained by contacting ABC. PLEASE, if you would like assistance completing the forms contact the ABC NH/VT Chapter office.

As stated in a previous communication to ABC members, when establishing prevailing wage rates and fringe amounts for a county, if the total of all survey forms received by the Federal Department of Labor result in data for 6 or more employees in a classification (i.e. carpenter) and the data is from 3 or more companies on private (not federal prevailing wage) projects, then that is the data used to determine the wage and fringe amounts. If the Federal Department of Labor receives data below the 6 and 3 threshold, they will include any data submitted from federal prevailing wage projects. In other words, the amount of data needed to influence the use of private projects and to influence the wage and fringe amounts for prevailing wage projects is not very great. YOUR SURVEY DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

It is also worth noting that if 51% or more of submitted wage and fringe data for a classification is the same to the penny, that becomes the wage and fringe amount for that classification. The only data that is the same to the penny is data submitted for union contractors/projects by their respective union (collective bargaining agreements). Again, YOUR SURVEY INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT AND MAKES A DIFFERENCE. If you do not submit and contribute to the data, you may be enabling a union majority of survey forms and unrealistic, not truly prevailing, rates and fringe benefit amounts.
