GET OUT THE VOTE ON NOVEMBER, 4TH

As stated in our September ACTION newsletter, ABC members, employees and their families represent well over 20,000 votes in NH/VT elections and can impact election results (go to www.abcvotes.com for voter registration details and other valuable information). Much is at stake for our economy and your business success.

You know ABC is fighting to support candidates who understand the importance of open competition and that a strong economy demands individual responsibility and accountability.

Proposed government solutions seem to be further moving business out of the free market and into the political arena. Layers of government bureaucracy continue to create new agencies and new powers for the very authorities that cause the issues they are trying to resolve. They promote entitlement and mediocrity, not ambition and success.

As with all election results, regardless of what happens on November 4th, you will wake up on November 5th look in the mirror and see who is responsible for your success. Your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other. I can guarantee you, ABC is and will continue to be stronger than ever and what we see when we look in the mirror is an organization made up of individuals who understand that action is the key to all success.

As we have stated before, ABC is proud of our affiliation with your company and ready to take whatever action is necessary to support your business success.

DO NOT OVERLOOK ABC COST SAVING OPPORTUNITIES

Membership does not cost, it saves!

All businesses are focused on operating as efficiently as possible and seeking cost saving opportunities. ABC has many tangible cost savings programs available to help support efforts to reduce operating costs. 65% of NH/VT members are saving 30% - 80% of their annual dues by participating in various cost savings programs. Some highlighted programs that are of interest and being taken advantage of by many members include:

Phone and Data Service Discount (Verizon) - ABC has signed an agreement to offer ABC contractor member firms up to a 22 percent discount on monthly cell phone calling plans and data services. Family members of corporate subscribers that sign on to the ABC plan also will be eligible for discounts of 15 percent on their personal lines. The ABC program applies to both existing and new subscribers www.abc.org/verizon

Vehicle Discounts - ABC members can take advantage of the discounts on General Motors vehicles offered through ABC. ABC members are eligible for discounts of between $500 - $1000 on cars, SUVs, trucks and vans. It's important to note that these discounts are over and above the best price from your favorite local dealer, including on top of any other GM incentive already in place www.abc.org/gm

Ford Fleet customers who are ABC members can enjoy between $500 to $3500 savings in addition to their fleet program pricing www.abc.org/ford

Chrysler ABC members and their employees that use their vehicle for day-to-day business use can combine this stackable cash allowance with current retail incentives and choose an ON THE JOBTM program allowance. That can make this offer worth up to $1,500 or more www.abc.org/chrysler

FedEx Save up to 29% on overnight envelopes, packages and shipments www.abc.org/fedex

Workers Compensation Group Trust
The ABC Workers' Comp Trust was formed in 1994 in response to the rapidly rising cost and unpredictability of workers' compensation insurance. In 2014 the ABC Workers' Compensation Self-Insurance Trust celebrated its 19th successful year. The Trust provides coverage to members representing more than $50 million of payroll.

Call ABC 603 226 4789.

Dental Insurance - ABC's latest Wage & Benefit Survey showed that 60% of employers provide dental insurance and contribute on average 50% of the employee's premium. The survey showed that the average single monthly premium is $44 dollars; the average family monthly premium is $138 dollars.

Call ABC 603 226 4789 to save!

ABC Health Plan - As a group program the opportunity for increased value, competitive rates and features will only get better with the growth of the group and the number of "lives" covered by the plan. Enrollments have begun and we look forward to participation from member firms to grow the group and respond to what has become one of the top business concerns for members - the cost of health care.

Call ABC 603 226 4789.

Please contact ABC with any questions concerning the cost savings opportunities.

EMPLOYEE WAGE AND BENEFIT SURVEY DATA COLLECTED

The NH/VT ABC Chapter will soon begin collecting data for its annual Wage & Benefit survey. This year the survey results will be more important than ever! Due to low survey response and insufficient data, last year survey results were not published. Over the next several weeks members will receive surveys and a reminder that your company participation is encouraged. This anonymous survey is the only one of its kind available in our area. The survey data is extremely important to members' efforts to understand current wage and benefit practices and to maintain competitive practices to attract and retain quality employees. In addition to ABC Members, the results are made available to owners who may be purchasing construction services and are subjected to union campaigns that include inaccurate statements about merit shop wage and benefit practices. The survey results provide factual data to counter the anecdotal references made by union representatives. The survey results are also used in the legislative arena and other public policy decision making forums to provide documented evidence of the wage and benefit practices of merit shop contractors.

The increasing cost of health care and the impact of the Affordable Health Care Act is a major challenge for all members and the survey results will provide valuable insight. Your survey response is important to assure we receive enough data to provide as much information for as many employee classifications as possible. Watch your ABC communications for survey request and please contact the Chapter Office with any questions.

EVERYONE IS A WINNER ON
OCTOBER 23rd

On Thursday, October 23, 2014 Associated Builders and Contractors of NH/VT will be holding its Annual Excellence In Construction Awards ceremony and Business Development Reception. At our last Excellence ceremony over 300 owners, architects and contractors and others were in attendance for business development and to "stay in touch" with industry peers. It is an important annual program that has become the number one business development opportunity for construction industry professionals in our region. We encourage representatives from your company to attend the October 23rd event and share in the networking opportunity and recognition of the outstanding achievements performed by construction professionals every day.

Plan to have your company represented on October 23rd. Please note, again this year the awards presentations begin at 5:30, followed by the reception. Contact ABC for further information or to register. Congratulations to all the winners!
