AVNC Seeking New South Atwater Representative
Board Meeting Photo Interested in joining the Atwater Village Neighborhood Council?

Our longtime South Atwater Rep, Ginger Damon has left the board to pursue new opportunities, which means we have an open seat for our South Atwater Resident Representative. Interested parties must meet these requirements:

A stakeholder who resides in the South Atwater Area and is 16 years or older.

The new board member will hold that seat until the next Atwater Village Neighborhood Council(AVNC) elections in April 2013. The new board member can run for re-election of their seat at that point.

Board members are expected to participate at AVNC Board of Governor meetings, on board committees, and support the over all efforts of the neighborhood council.

Any interested parties should email their interest by 7pm on Monday, November 11th to Board Secretary - Mario Cardenas at Mario@atwatervillage.org. The candidates shall attend the November 14th board meeting to make a statement as to why they would like to join the board.

The candidate selection process on November 14th will be done in the following manner as outlined by the AVNC bylaws (Article V, Section 6C). The full AVNC bylaws about be found here. Any questions about the opportunity or selection process can be directed toward Mario@atwatervillage.org

Atwater in the News!
Co-Chair Torin Dunnavant speaks at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new bike corral alongside Mitch O'Farrell
Recently, Atwater Village's own Golden Road Brewery was written up as one of the coolest brewery's in America! Take a look at the article on Huffington Post by clicking here!

Atwater Village also made headlines this week for having the third bike corral installed by LADOT! The corral is sponsored by Kaldi Coffee and is located at the pedestrian bump out on Madera. This week, several members of the Neighborhood Council gathered in front of the bike corral to watch Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell cut the ribbon! We are thrilled to have this new addition to the neighborhood and thank Alex at Kaldi Coffee for this awesome contribution! You can read more about the bike corral by clicking here!

Co-Chairs Notes
It was just a year ago that the current Board of Governors was elected to represent you. Already we know when the next board election will be - April 12th, 2014. We want to continue to make sure that Atwater Village is the best neighborhood in LA by having a passionate and effective board. If you feel that you would make a good addition to our team, or you know of someone else that would, we encourage you to run during the upcoming election. Our Elections Committee is ramping up the outreach, so you'll be hearing lots more about our candidate recruitment efforts, as well as our get out the vote effort. More info to follow.
