Let's Hear It For Autumn's Superstars 

 

It's still planting season.  Here is our list of plants to add a punch of fall color and/or winter interest to your landscape.  These plants are available now in our 60-acre nursery and our experienced landscape crews can install them for you this fall.

Colorful Trees

Autumn Blaze Maple is known for its brilliant orangey red fall color. 

Autumn Blaze Maple-  This fast growing tree thrives in most soils, tolerates drought and produces a brilliant, orangey-red fall color. If you are looking to add shade to your property, this is the tree for you.  It grows quickly, at three feet or more per year, with an eventual height of 40-50 feet.    

  

Ornamental Pear - One of the most popular ornamental trees for fall color is the pear. Fall foliage starts with a deep purple color that becomes red.


Paperbark Maple Tree
- The paperbark maple tree is and named for its cinnamon colored bark, which peels off in

thin, curly strips, giving texture and interest to the landscape. It is also popular for its crimson red fall foliage.

River Birch - The cinnamon-colored, exfoliating bark of the river birch is spectacular in the winter.  In summer, it bears lustrous green leaves which turn a vibrant yellow in fall. 

 

 

 

 

 

Colorful Shrubs

Chokeberry Bush-  Are you looking for attractive shrubbery for your landscape? The chokeberry bush, botanically known as Aronia, adds visual interest

to the landscape by exhibiting white flowers in the spring and heavy, dark fruit in the fall.

  

Burning Bush - This shrub is one of the great beauties of the autumn season. It is distinguished by vibrant scarlet foliage and small red-orange fruit.  It is effective used in mass plantings, in a shrub border, as an accent plant or as an attractive hedge.

 

 

 

Colorful Perennials

Autumn Joy Sedum - � Want to add a trouble-free perennial with leafy summer interest and fall flowers? Autumn Joy Sedum is drought proof and deer proof and its giant blooms bring fall color to your landscape. This is very effective planted in mass.

 

Ornamental Grasses - Ornamental grasses are gaining popularity as additions to the perennial garden.  Add  visual interest to the winter garden by leaving them standing.
