November 2017

Over the past 12 months the Jumpstart Program

has seen some amazing results with medication adherence and viral suppression.

Program participants went from being 50% undetectable at the beginning of the year to an astonishing 83% by the end of the year. Viral suppression numbers were good as well, rising from 72% to 84% by the end of the operating year.

Viral suppression is defined as suppressing or reducing the function and replication of the virus. When discussing antiretriviral therapy for HIV, a regimen is considered to be successful if it reduces a person's viral load to undetectable levels. The term "viral load" refers to the number of copies of HIV per mL of blood; the amount of virus in the blood. An "undetectable" viral load simply means that there are too few copies of the virus to be detected by current tests.

World AIDS Day

 + Friday, December 1, 3:00 - 7:00 PM
 + Missouri History Museum

World AIDS Day is held on December 1st each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

This year, we invite you to join us for an exciting and meaningful evening as we recall the values with which World AIDS Day began; remembering those we have lost, celebrating those in our community that continue to fight and hope for a cure.

We will remember those who have lost their battle with HIV/AIDS with a display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. We will recognize individuals that exemplify dedication to the St. Louis HIV/AIDS community by awarding the St. Louis region's first Red Ribbon Awards.

We also invite our community partners to engage attendees with booth exhibits that demonstrate their initiative and area of expertise in the field. We are excited to have The Gateway Men's Chorus performing along with a screening of the film "Still Around".
