The Advanced Organizing for Social Change training is a valuable opportunity for experienced progressive organizers to spend three days with senior Midwest Academy trainers to develop or refine a comprehensive strategic plan for your current campaign. Through a combination of presentations, discussion, research time, and individual consulting, the training covers the following areas: 

  • Organizational mapping for building powerful organizations 
  • The current economic and political context of organizing 
  • Target / decision-maker power analysis and research  
  • Using the strategy chart to build your organization and constituencies    
  • Effective and creative tactics 
  • Campaign timelines

Meet the Advanced Session Trainers!
The Advanced Organizing for Social Change Training was developed and is run by the Academy's senior staff. The trainers for the June 11-13th session are:

Judy Hertz, Executive Director: Judy has been a trainer at the Academy for over a decade and has over 20 years of experience in community organizing and tenant rights.


Steve Max
, Director of Training: Steve is the Academy's founding trainer and master strategist. He has organized for over four decades in the civil rights, labor, and student movements and is an expert in building community organizations and coalitions.
