Isaiah 55:2-3
New International Version (NIV)

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
   listen, that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.

"Pope decries 'virus' of polarization over race, faith"
from the Toronto Star by Frances D'Emilio, The Associated Press

The ecological crisis summons us to a profound spiritual conversion: Christians are called to "an ecological conversion whereby the effects of their encounter with Jesus Christ become evident in their relationship with the world around them". For "living our vocation to be protectors of God's handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience".
From the Holy Father's letter of 6 August 2015 to Cardinals Koch and Turkson.

Advent: A Season of Hope and Expectation
By Trevor Scott, sj
. . .                                     Waiting and hoping for new political and social realities through referendums, military interventions, and elections are very much real in our lives.
But this is not the spirit of waiting and longing of Advent. As Christians, because of deep
injustices and sufferings present in our world, we are prayerfully waiting and hoping for the coming of our Lord.
With the coming of our Lord, with the arrival of God's Kingdom, we will truly experience justice and joy. But what is it that we are actually waiting and praying for? What do we expect to happen upon the arrival of our Lord?

A Message from the National CLC President, Leah Michaud
Dear CLC Family,

From November 3rd - 6th, the CLC General Council gathered in Summerside PEI for their annual face-to-face
meeting. . . .

As I listened to the new members on GC (Reps for the Central and Prairies Regions), I realized that, even those of us with a bit more experience, we are all
learners on a Spirit led journey. So our being "sent out" is not as mini-saviours but as seekers of the goodness and generosity of God already present and active in CLC Canada and our role is to encourage the same good order or wholeness in all areas of our CLC way of life. . . .

For the next three days, all members of GC shared responsibility for facilitating the conversation, as well as next steps

A message from CREXCO

It is truly a blessing to be called to serve in the Central Region EXCO and we look forward collaboratively to put our talents and resources at the disposal of Jesus through CLC. The wealth of gifts given to each one of us will surely make up for the gap needed in our region, national and the world. With deep gratitude to the Holy Trinity, we start our journey as Central EXCO members together. We are open to your suggestions and comments to improve CLC Central. Please keep us in your prayers as we do you.
A Syrian CLC Family Journey: Seeking a New Home in Canada

. . . I would say that we have progressed significantly in obtaining relevant information on sponsoring refugees, thanks to several persons that have been directly involved in the sponsoring of Syrian Refugees. Also, several web sites with important information have been passed on, one of which is particularly important because of the Charabati family wanting to come to Montreal PQ.
It's very encouraging to know that many CLC members have immediately responded in tangible ways in assisting the Charabati family.

CLC Atlantic Regional Fall Council Meeting
 . . .
The theme was 'Moving forward in mission listening to the voice of God' and we were praying for the grace 'To be granted the wisdom to listen deeply and the ability to distinguish with a pure and discerning heart'. Our scripture focus was Isaiah 55: 2-3, which reminds us to incline our ears and come to God; listening so that we might live.

CLC Group Guide Training Vancouver, November 2016
. . .
What a gift to share the wisdom, learning, and communal experiences of our CLC leaders. A challenging agenda was followed. We explored the group meeting model, the nature of CLC leadership, and the understanding of how the three pillars of CLC parallel the three sections of the weekly meetings in the formation manuals. It was illuminating to understand the parallel between CLC formation development and the stages in the Spiritual Exercises.
