|A Reading of Mark's Gospel
Tonight @ 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Join us as we begin the holy season of Advent by gathering to read the Gospel of Mark in one evening. Why? Because the church's new year begins on the first Sunday of Advent and focuses on this gospel, the very first one recorded.
So this year give yourself a gift! Leave the shopping frenzy behind and gather at the church for a chili supper and an incredible evening like no other. We hope you're joining us.
|Lessons & Carols
Sunday, December 10 at 4:00 p.m.
We will celebrate the Advent season with the Festival of Lessons and Carols, a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus inaugurating the Advent/Christmastide season.
The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus are told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir music in a lovely service reminiscent of the annual King's College, Cambridge England service of Lessons and Carols. A reception follows with wassail and English shortbread. Please plan to join us and bring a friend.
December 10 and 17
The Lord is our Light
Grab a cup of coffee and join us in Hinde Hall at 9:00 a.m. for an Advent study based on the Revised Common Lectionary. Prepare for God's coming by rediscovering the light that began in the manger. Remember there is nursery available from 7:45 a.m. if you have little ones who need watching.
|Remember Loved Ones
Christmas Flower Donations
The lovely floral arrangements in the church at Christmas are made possible by generous parishioners. If you wish to make a donation, there's a form to fill out to make sure we get all the spellings correct. You may pay by cash, check or credit card. It's a lovely way to remember a loved one, give thanks for family and friends, or celebrate the season. Please
submit your donation to the parish office
no later than December 18 to ensure that the information will appear in our Christmas bulletin.
| Labyrinth Walks in Advent
In the peaceful church courtyard
Our labyrinth will be open to the parish and community for contemplative time on Wednesday evenings from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. on December 6, 13, and 20. Squeeze out even 15 minutes in your busy day to enjoy some time for yourself and center on what is truly important this time of year.
|The Lord is Our Light
Advent Bible Study
We will gather for two more Monday mornings in Advent -
December 11 and 18 at 8:00 a.m. in Hinde Hall for a study of the scriptures appointed especially for the season of Advent. On Monday, December 11 we will focus on Isaiah 61:1-11.
We hope you'll join us to enrich your Advent season.
|Lighten Our Darkness, O Lord
Wednesday, December 13 - 7:00 p.m.
A simple candlelit service of
evening prayer and quiet time of reflection within the walls of this beautiful historic church. Prayers for the whole human family and time for remembrance for those whom we love but see no longer will be offered. We will depart with candles as we scatter the darkness with the Light and Love of Christ! Labyrinth will also be candle lit and available for meditation before and after the service.
|Christmas Eve/Advent 4
December 24, 2017
Advent 4 or Christmas Eve? Because Christmas Eve falls on Sunday this year, and it is also the Fourth Sunday of Advent we will celebrate both! Our celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord (Christmas Eve) begins in the afternoon with the 3:00 p.m. family service and pageant. It's a long day, but worth your time to come at 10:00 a.m. to hear the whole story!

You Shop, They Give
It bears repeating during this heavy shopping time, that every time you make an Amazon purchase you can help Christ Church. If you already use the "Smile" feature, you might consider directing your donations to Christ Church. If you do not already have a "Smile" account, simply log onto
and set-up your account. Remember to log-on to Amazon Smile every time you shop. Your account looks and works EXACTLY the same, but you will be donating a small portion of your purchase directly to Christ Church. It costs you nothing and benefits your parish!

|Planning Our Future Together, A Diocesan Survey
Search for our Bishop
As we search for the fifth bishop of our diocese, the Diocese seeks your input. Go online by clicking on the link below and tell them about your experiences in and priorities for our diocese. The information gained from this assessment will be valuable in helping to build a profile of our diocese. Each adult (16+) member of the household is asked to complete the survey for her/himself, even if there is only one email address for all members of the family. Please do not discuss the survey or your answers with others as this may influence their answers. They want to know what YOU are thinking. Please set aside 25 to 30 minutes to complete the online survey, available here:
. It is completely anonymous; please be candid. If you have any questions, please contact the nominating committee via email:
or mail: The Nominating Committee, 2083 Sunset Cliffs Blvd., San Diego, CA 92107.
