2016 Western Turbine Users (WTUI), Issue 1

LAST CALL FOR AERO USERS: Benefit from robust technical program, training at WTUI
There are several especially good reasons to register now for the 26 th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Western Turbine Users Inc in Palm Springs, March 20-23, including the following:
      • Come up-to-date on industry and aero-engine issues.
      • Take advantage of top-quality training.
      • Spend time with more than 150 of the leading providers of aero-related equipment and services in the exhibit hall. more
Automated collection assures accurate, actionable data to support decision-making
Salvatore A DellaVilla Jr, CEO, Strategic Power Systems, told the editors during a recent telephone interview that participation by LM engine owner/operators in the company's ORAPĀ® program allows SPS to aggregate data and provide meaningful analytics to Western Turbine members.
"Our effort to provide the high-quality information required for decision-making demands automated collection of data from the control system," DellaVilla said. He wanted to bring this to the attention of users because SPS engineers and the company's analytics team are seeing more and more issues related to the manual submittal of data.  more
WTUI, CCJ ONsite to collaborate on best practices
At WTUI's 26 th Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, three plants will be recognized for their best practices this year during the Tuesday luncheon: Waterside Power, Lawrence Generating Station, and Worthington Generating Station. Their best practices focused on performance improvements and O&M are summarized here. more
Special technical presentations highlight WTUI program Tuesday afternoon
Hands down, the Western Turbine Users' annual conference is Planet Earth's biggest bargain in aero-engine training. More than nine classroom hours are devoted to the operation and maintenance of LM2500, LM5000, LM6000, and LMS100 engines in breakout sessions where owner/operators get the nitty gritty on what might bite them next and how to avoid paying again for problems others have experienced and solved.  more
No shortage of time exists for conference attendees to visit the plethora of companies serving the aeroderivative gas turbine industry at WTUI from March 20-22. The WTUI Exhibit hall is open Sunday from 1730-2030 for a welcome reception, Monday from 0900-1700, and Tuesday from 0800-1630.  more
CTOTF, which meets twice annually, also supports owner/operators of Pratt & Whitney and Siemens (now including Rolls Royce) aeroderivative engines at the organization's spring meeting (this year, April 3-7); LM users meet in the fall (this year, Sept 11-15). What's important to users with FT4s, FT8s, FT4000s, RB211s, etc: CTOTF is the only formal gas-turbine user group supporting their aeros. more
