Affirmation 10/7/15

John 2:24-25 (KJV)
24  But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,

25  And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

John 12:43 (KJV)
43  For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

Definition of AFFIRMATION

Well, it is getting late in the afternoon as I SCRAMBLE to put out ANOTHER sermon.

Amanda's nurse is on vacation this week and we are also preparing for our BLESSED trip to Foley, AL.

Sometimes it is harder to HEAR the Voice and Leading of the Lord Jesus Christ as to EXACTLY what He would have me preach on.

Sometimes I am pulled in several different thought direction and out of the chaos strain to determine His Direction.

I had a WONDERFUL, though exhausting, visit at IN CHRIST CHURCH last Sunday!

I arrived there at 9 AM and spent the next two hours hastily rehearsing songs with my DEAR friends Charles and Sarah.

Charles in an INCREDIBLY gifted guitarist and Sarah a DELIGHT to sing with.

When I left the Church, minus my voice box, I felt GOOD about the Service and pleased with how "well" I had done.

I found MYSELF, BASKING in the "PRAISES OF MEN."

And YES, it DOES feel good to "win."

BUT one cannot live there!!

How well our Lord and Savior KNEW this:

John 6:15 (KJV)
15  When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

Jesus NEEDED not the "success" of THIS world!!!

A quote from the famous poem, "IF," by Rudyard Kipling succinctly sums this up:

"
If you can meet with triumph and disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;"

IF we truly believed and understood, these are the ONLY Words WE should strive to hear:

Matthew 25:23 (KJV)

23
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

"WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT

THOU HAST BEEN FAITHFUL OVER A "FEW" THINGS"!

My emphasis on the "FEW THINGS!!!!"

I, too, NEED to OFTEN remind MYSELF of my FAVORITE Bible Verse-the Verse I have staked my entire life on:

Luke 16:10 (KJV)

10  He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust

in the least is unjust also in much.

In the end, when push comes to shove and the final tally is totaled.........

All that really matters is "did WE do our best-!!??"

And WHO were we performing for?

Was it truly for Him or men"

Matthew 6:1 (KJV)

1  Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Can YOU say "OUCH!!??"

Matthew 6:2 (KJV)

2  Therefore when thou doest thine
alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

"VERILY IS SAY UNTO YOU, THEY HAVE THEIR REWARD!"

I am talking to YOU today dear reader!

I close with another famous poem-one I cut my spiritual teeth on MANY years ago.

The ONLY "AFFIRMATION" we NEED is of God!!!

"Father, Where Shall I Work Today" - Meade MacGuire

"Father, where shall I work today?"

And my love flowed warm and free.

Then he pointed out a tiny spot

And said, "Tend that for me."

I answered quickly, "Oh no, not that!

Why, no one would ever see,

No matter how well my work was done.

Not that little place for me."

And the word he spoke, it was not stern; ...

"Art thou working for them or for me?

Nazareth was a little place,

And so was Galilee.

God Bless You!
