After School Enrichment Classes: Winter 2017
Hoop Girls, Coding with Kids, Chess Wizards, Yoga, and Clay Classes

The Stillmeadow PFO is working with Hoop Girls, Chess Wizards, Coding with Kids, Jill Lostaglio Yoga, and Clay Art Center to offer after school programs at Stillmeadow this winter.
Here's what you need to know:
- All classes begin in January and end by April 18.
- Registration is now open (except Hoop Girls - coming in January).
- Registration for Chess Wizards and Coding with Kids is online only.
- Register for Clay Classes, Yoga and Hoop Girls via forms in your folders.
- All registrations are first come first served.
- Course descriptions and pricing is provided below. Please read all fine print on flyers.
- Children registered for after school enrichment classes will be transitioned to the appropriate room immediately after school.
- Children must be picked up in the designated classroom at the end of each class.
- Limited scholarships are available for some classes.
- Contact the PFO's after school program coordinator, Mondana Nikoukari, with questions.

Hoop Girls: Hoop Dance/Fitness for Grades K-5
|
|
Girls in grades K-5 will have a whirl of a time in the gym, learning Hooping Tricks and Dance moves and playing hula hoop games.
The class will end with a gentle yoga stretch. Girls will perform in the gym for parents at the end of the session just before pick up on the last day of session.

Students will develop their computational thinking skills and build their own creative programs. Curriculum combines a blend of fun activities (both "on-screen" and โoff-screen") to keep students engaged and excited about coding. This class will give students a strong foundation on coding basics, such as loops and conditionals, that can be built upon in our other classes.
When:
Tuesdays from 2:45 to 3:45 pm beginning January 16 and ending March 27. (No class on February 20)

In this fun after-school class, students will be introduced to the core concepts of computer programming, including loops, conditionals and variables. Using the Scratch development environment, students will learn how to create their own programs, such as simple games, animations, and interactive stories.

Chess Wizards for Grades K-5
|
Chess Wizards offers fun, intellectual and challenging chess education and tournament experiences to children of all abilities and ages. The Chess Wizards curriculum is designed to impart the many benefits of learning chess, including critical thinking, sportsmanship, and learning from mistakes in a challenging and exciting way.
When:
Wednesdays from 2:50 to 3:50 pm beginning January 16 and ending on April 18. (No classes on January 24, March 14, March 28, and April 11.)

10-14 per class. (Note: Chess Wizards requires a minimum of 10 students to conduct this class.)
Price:
$15 per class or $150 for entire 10-week session
Cancellation Policy:
Chess Wizards reserves the right to cancel activities if registration falls below our required minimum of 10 students per class.
Refund Policy:
No refunds will be issued after 2nd class

Yoga Classes for Grades K-2
|
Yoga is for everyone, even kids. This class will be a fun, creative and non-
competitive environment to enjoy the practice of yoga, which will consist of yoga postures, breathing techniques, age appropriate games and relaxation. Children should wear comfortable clothes and bring a large towel or yoga mat.
When:
Thursdays from 2:50 to 3:50 pm beginning January 4 and ending on March 29. (No classes on February 15, March 8, and March 15)

Clay Classes for Grades K-2
|
Explore the possibilities of Clay โ Pinch, twist, coil, and roll as you create fantastical creatures, your favorite animals, and any character you can dream up โ all with the help of a professional ceramic teaching artist!

Clay Classes for Grades 3-5
|
Learn how to coil, pinch and slab build, while exploring your own ideas to create pottery and seasonal sculptures that you will be proud to show off. Bring winter indoors while using outdoor elements to create evergreen impression plates, cups and more!

Wednesdays from 2:50 to 3:50 pm beginning January 17 and ending on April 11. (No classes on January 24, March 14, and March 28).
