WALKING SAFETY TIPS

Our friends at Lifelong Elizabeth, a project similar to Age-Friendly Englewood, recently produced a card listing tips for older adults (or anyone) to be safe while out walking in what we hope will come soon:  nice Spring weather.
Use sidewalks

2.  Use crosswalks

3.  Watch for turning vehicles

4.  Wear bright colored clothing

5.  Avoid distractions (texting, reading, listening to music, etc.)

6.  Make eye contact with drivers before crossing

Check out the card  or in Spanish, and please share with others who many find this information helpful.
Caregiver Conference
April 21

The annual Bergen County Caregivers Conference will be held Saturday, April 21, at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack from
10 AM-2PM. Topics to be covered include legal issues, estate planning, dementia care, and dealing with stress.  Here's the full agenda.  Sponsored by the Bergen County Division of Senior Services, the program is open to the public free of charge.
Call 201-336-7416 for further details.

Dorot, an organization that brings generations together and
enhances the lives of
the elderly, offers several caregiver support groups over the telephone and in the evening.  Here's their schedule.
Businesses, Too, Can Be Age-Friendly

Increasing numbers of businesses across the country are finding it makes good sense to become "age-friendly."  For one thing, older adults prefer to shop locally. For another, older adults comprise a powerful segment of the consumer economy who have some money and spend it.

If you own a business, work in one, or patronize shops, have a look at our

And pass it along to a business that might benefit from this information.
