GIS Educators Day 2013

at the 28th Annual Fall NEARC Conference

Sunday, September 29 // Nashua, New Hampshire

The Northeast ARC Users Group (NEARC) invites you to participate in the 6th Annual GIS Educators Day at the Fall NEARC Conference!

ABOUT GIS EDUCATORS DAY 2013

GIS Educators Day, sponsored by NEARC and Esri, is a full-day conference devoted exclusively to topics and issues pertaining to the use of GIS and other geospatial technologies in K-12, college, and informal education.

GIS Educators Day is a one-day pre-conference to NEARC's annual professional user conference which will run from September 29 - October 2 at the Radisson Hotel Nashua. GIS Educators Day will feature hands-on computer labs and presentations exploring a range of resources, projects, and topics.

GIS Educators Day addresses the number one goal of GIS conference goers...the opportunity to network with other professionals who share your interest in the use of geospatial technologies in the same setting. Whether you're a K-12 or college educator, an experienced GIS user or a newcomer who wants to learn about the educational possibilities of this powerful tool, you'll want to put this outstanding regional event on your "Must Do" list for 2013.

CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Conference Agenda and Abstracts
  • There will be two hands-on labs this year - one for ArcGIS desktop - and one for ArcGIS Online.
  • The ArcGIS desktop sessions will be in a Windows lab. ArcGIS Online workshops will be BYOD (bring your own device), so bring your laptops and mobile devices. We will have a wireless internet connection.
  • One hands-on session, NEO + ArcGIS + ImageJ = Cool Animations of Remote Sensing Data!, requires pre-registration because participants will receive a small stipend (wow!). Space is limited. The session will be 'first come, first served,' so be one of the first 14 to sign up by emailing lmalone@worldviewsgis.com. Participants in this session should have at least some experience using ArcGIS desktop. This session is for K-12 teachers and those who will be facilitating pre-service K-12 educators.
  • There will also be an education track at the main NEARC conference. Sessions in that track are scheduled for Monday, September 30. There is a special Sunday-Monday registration option for those who would like to attend both days. To learn more about this, email victoria@delaneymeetingevent.com.
  • We have scheduled presentations for GIS educators at every level - 16 in all!
