FDA issues Video Guidance on New Veterinary Feed Directive
Source:  National Grain and Feed Association
The FDA has made available a new video that provides an overview of the agency's Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) regulation governing the use of medically important antimicrobials used in or on animal feed.   Medically important antimicrobials used in or on animal feed will become VFD drugs effective Jan. 1, 2017. Once the rule becomes effective, distribution and use of VFD medicated feed will require authorization by a licensed veterinarian and must be performed in compliance with the VFD regulation. The FDA video highlights that VFD drugs are to be used only for therapeutic purposes, and will no longer be available to promote growth or feed efficiency. The VFD final rule applies to veterinarians who authorize VFDs, distributors who manufacture or distribute VFD feed, and animal producers who use VFD feed.   Click HERE to access the video.

Purdue/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer Up in November
A rally in crop prices, especially for soybeans, combined with record yields this fall, provided a boost to producers' confidence regarding future economic conditions in agriculture. As a result, the November barometer reading is the highest since October of 2015.  Click HERE to access the Purdue/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer and to find additional expert insights, webinar dates and more information about how the values are calculated.

Court Blocks Obama Administration's Overtime Rule
Last month, a federal judge in Texas indefinitely blocked the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) overtime rule from taking effect on Dec. 1, handing a victory to employers across the country.  The DOL's overtime rule would have doubled the salary threshold below which executive, administrative and professional employees would have to be paid overtime for working more than 40 hours a week from the current salary of $23,660 annually to $47,892 annually.  The injunction means businesses and nonprofits will not be required to meet the Dec. 1 deadline for complying with the new overtime rules.
