Help Fight for NAFTA Today
Source: National Grain & Feed Association
As the U.S., Mexican and Canadian negotiators meet this week to discuss the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), opponents of free trade led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) will be rallying in Washington, D.C. Don't allow them to drown out the voice of the grain, feed and processing industry. Click below to send a Tweet to your representatives in Congress to tell them how important it is to maintain the gains made for agriculture in NAFTA, which benefits the health of the agricultural and overall U.S. economy.
Save the Date: ACI Legislative Reception - January 25, 2018
As many of you know, it is imperative to engage with elected officials on issues affecting your business. The ACI Policy Committee strives to engage with state legislators and decision makers during the Indiana General Assembly and throughout the year. In 2018, ACI will be hosting a Legislative Reception before the Annual Conference to introduce our members to state policymakers and the government affairs process. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, January 25from 8:00-10:30 a.m. at the Indiana Statehouse. More details will be coming soon!
Relabeling of Existing Dicamba Inventory
Source: Agriculture Retailers Association
Due to the change to Restricted Use Pesticide status for Engenia, Xtendimax and Fexapan, the Environmental Protection Agency and registrants of these products are requiring that existing inventory be relabeled before the 2018 season.   The Agricultural Retailers Association has previously supported the EPA precedent to allow existing stocks to be used with existing labels, and we intervened on that topic in the cancellations of flubendiamide and sulfoxaflor. However, the dicamba situation is different: change to the RUP status is one component of what is hoped to be a successful strategy for using these products over tolerant crops in 2018, and all three manufacturers under their agreement with EPA are directing that existing inventory be relabeled for 2018.
If a retailer who has existing stock does not have an EPA establishment number, which permits you to relabel product as required by EPA, registrants are requiring that the product be moved back to a distribution point that has such an establishment number so relabeling can be handled there legally. No statements have been issued about whether compensation is available to cover this added shipping cost.
