As millions of people in the Philippines struggle to survive and rebuild in the aftermath of powerful Super Typhoon Haiyan, United Ways worldwide are coming together to help.

After the catastrophic devastation, the rebuilding effort in the Philippines will be immense. The United Way network in the Philippines is already identifying and addressing the immediate and long-term needs in the areas hardest hit.

Individuals and organizations that would like to partner with Aloha United Way in this effort, can log on to auw.org and click on the "Philippines Recovery Effort" link on the homepage, which will immediately direct them to an easy and secure way to make a donation.

It is estimated that more than 4 million people were affected by the storm, mostly in the city of Tacloban, and the needs continue to increase by the day. Long after the emergency crews have left the area, United Way will be working to help fund and provide critical social services to help families face their future and help the country get back on its feet.

"United Ways around the world are raising funds for this recovery effort in the Philippines," says Kim Gennaula, Aloha United Way CEO. "We are proud to offer a way for our local community to make a big impact and directly help our friends and families in devastated areas. All the monies raised at auw.org will support long-term rebuilding and provide vital social services to the people there to give them the counseling, shelter and financial help they will need long after the storm."

Again, if you're interested in helping provide to support this disaster recovery effort for the Philippines, please donate at auw.org.
