How do you know when it is time to schedule an air compressor check-up?
We interviewed our service department - the folks who work on air compressors every single day - what our customers should look for to know it is time for a compressor check-up.

Eric called out a specific Ingersoll Rand air compressor.  "The R-Series machines have a service due indicator."  It doesn't get much easier than that!

Jordan said he would "generally advise the customer to do a weekly or monthly check on their compressor. Keeping a data log of hours and last preventative maintenance dates can help you stay on top of things."

We got a good tip from Josh - "the customer can tell whether their machine needs a check-up if the temperature is beginning to rise more than normal."

Even our service coordinator, Louise, runs into common issues like, "the maintenance light comes on, the separator may pass oil, or the unit alarm shows 'oil filter high differential'." She also noted that "in the summer, air compressors shut down showing 'high temp' but all you may need to do is clean the compressor thoroughly (which of course we can give you more tips on that)."

And finally, a few things to note from one of our service managers, Chuck.  If you "see oil downstream of the compressor, high discharge temps/shutdowns, or service light is on" give us a call and we can help you out.

Long-time Air Components technician shows you what to look for on a DAILY basis to keep air compressors from requiring too much major maintenance.
