Sassy Stitches!

I'm typing this on Saturday evening and it's rainy and cold.  This is such a change from the beautiful warm weather we've been having.  I'm getting ready to put the binding on a quilt and it will feel good to cover up!

Next Saturday is our annual "Airing of the Quilts" in Downtown Franklin.  Make plans now to attend this wonderful event.  Quilts will be hung all over town!  It's just beautiful to walk down Main Street and see all of the different ways quilts are displayed.
Here's a nice video of the Airing from 2011.

While you're in town for this year's "Airing of the Quilts" join us on Friday, May 12, for a class to make this sweet tulip wall hanging. This class begins at 10:00 and lasts until noon. Cost will be $20 plus supplies. You will need to do your cutting before class. Call the shop or come by to reserve your spot!

Stop by Sassy Stitches on Saturday, from 10:00 - 12:00 to Make & Take a cute teacup pin cushion.  All supplies included for $15.

The Clearance Corner is still overflowing!  I've been pulling bolts of every kind and color to add to make room for new fabrics coming in. It's going out the door pretty fast! Hurry in for best selections!

We had originally thought we would start staying open until 5:00 pm beginning on May 1. We are changing that start date to May 30.  SO beginning on Tuesday, May 30, Sassy Stitches will be open from 10:00 until 5:00 during the week. Our Saturday hours will remain the same.  10:00 - 2:00  Come see us!

A reminder to our seasonal customers - we scheduled our Breakfast Club so that you can join and still have 6 meetings just like our Jan - June group.  Today was the first meeting that included new members.  I am extending the invitation to join until next months meeting.  SO - with 5 remaining meetings (May - September) for seasonal customers, your next meeting will be Saturday, May 20th at 10:00.  Annie cooks up DELICIOUS breakfasts and serves coffee, tea, and juice. Then she provides a pattern (and the recipe for all of her yummy items) and you make something SEW cute!  SEW much fun!

----------------------------------------------------------------
Remember we are providing opportunities for you to come work on your club projects during the "Sit & Sew" times this year or if
you're not in a club, just come sew! These days have been set aside for you to use our classroom and the supplies while you fellowship with others and work towards completing projects.   BUT . . . YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT.  We are limiting the number of people to 10 on each of the sewing days so if you are interested you need to call and reserve your spot.  It's totally free!  But we only have room for so many so let us know you're coming and we will let you know if there is still room. You can get into the classroom at 9:45 and sew until 4:00!  WOW!
Staff can answer questions and help you briefly but they will be working on the floor taking care of other business. This is not class time so please be respectful of our staff members. You can order lunch or bring your own. Come sew with us!   Did I mention it's FREE ?!?!?

Please note the change in the Breakfast Club May meeting. Due to Airing of the Quilts, that meeting has been changed from May 13th to May 20th. And don't forget, seasonal customers!!! We are still planning a Breakfast Club just for you! Join Annie for breakfast, recipes, and fun projects.
Call or stop by to sign up!

Until next Sunday, have a wonderful week and come see us!

New Rulers!
W e have the new rulers, rotary cutters, and mats from Quilters Select!  Y'all, these rulers WILL NOT slide or slip.  I have never seen anything like this!!!!!  You need to come try one out to see for yourself.  They are SEW amazing!  I bought one of the rulers a few months ago to try for myself.  I will never use anything else!  The rotary cutter is weighted and lessens the pressure you have to use to cut fabric.  AND it's ambidextrous!  The same rotary cutter is used for left handed or right handed folks.  The cutting mat is a little thicker than most and get this . . . it's reversible!  It's like buying two mats at one time!  The numbers for measuring on both the rulers and the mats go both ways.  In other words, you don't have to keep turning the ruler or count backwards on your mat!  Here is a link to their website.  Alex Anderson designed these awesome tools. Come by to try them out and check out the website for more into!

Show & Tell
We LOVE when you bring in your masterpieces to share with us!  Here are some quilts we got to drool over this week!
Pat made this quilt for Landon, a 4 year-old, who has Lukemia. He is going to feel like a super hero when he sees it!   Carol shared her beauty from Tool Time!

Bonnie shared the newest member of her family, Sophie!  When she runs she flops like a stuffed animal.  SEW cute and sweet!

Debbie shared her Tool Time creation using the Straight Out of Line Tool.

Monica made this awesome sampler using the new Moda Cake Mix Recipe Cards.  It's a neat tablet of paper that you use with 2 pieces of a layer cake to create half-square triangles.  There are several possibilities and many patterns.  Stay tuned for a Moda Bake off event soon!

It's always fun to see the same pattern in different fabrics.  This pattern has become rather popular!  This is a CLP pattern called "Flying Star Wall Hanging" and is fun and easy to do.  Which one is your favorite?

We finally got the panel in for this gorgeous Sunflower line that is flying out the door!  There are more bolts ordered.  Linda made the two pretty table runners.  That pattern is ordered!

Linda also made this awesome star!  We will be having a class to make the star in three different sizes.  This is the large one. When you put a button on the other side, it's reversible!  It's a perfect addition to your holiday decorating projects!

Ryan's Case for Smiles
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases, fabric donations for making pillow cases and monetary donations. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!
