New Hangar Options at Waukesha County Airport/Crites Field
In case you missed May's Special Edition, we are dedicated to creating the best GA environment possible and are excited to announce a new partnership with Moreland Aviation! They will be developing custom, highly efficient and affordable aircraft hangars here at UES which will change the way you take care of - and enjoy - your aircraft.

Moreland Aviation's mission is to dramatically improve the entire issue of aircraft hangar development, construction and ownership.  Space is limited and opportunities for these units will be on a first come, first served basis. Don't miss your chance!

For more information on Moreland Aviation,  click here . For more information on these new aircraft hangars, contact Bob Moreland at 815-979-1977 or email  ilgobbler@aol.com .
Build Your Dream Hangar Here
You must have noticed the signage installed to promote the hangar lots available for lease on the airfield.

Currently, we have several hangar lots available in two areas of the airport: the Southeast Recreational Hangar area and the West Corporate Hangar Area. Lots vary in size from 90' x 105' to 200' x 245'.

If you're interested, or know someone who is, contact the Airport Administration office for more information at 262-521-5250 or via email.

The month of June is upon us and it's time to open up the hangars, clean up, get outside and crank up the grill! We're happy to see lots of Cessnas, Pipers, Beechcraft, Warbirds and other assorted fabulous flying machines in the air.

The month of May took both Matt and I to the Wisconsin Aviation Conference which was not only educational, but also very productive. With all the major aviation agencies together in one spot we were able to discuss many airport and industry related topics from FAA funding to the pilot shortage. We will keep you updated on plans and designs as we move forward.

Enjoy the multitude of opportunities to fly your airplane to great events and pancake breakfasts in the region! Don't forget to introduce someone new to this great pastime we all share.

Thank you and fly safe,
Kurt

Learning Takes Flight at Waukesha's Les Paul Middle School!
Students in Waukesha are flexing their engineering muscles by building their own airplane!  7th and 8th graders from Waukesha's Les Paul Middle School  were showing off their plane on Wednesday, June 1.
The students worked with volunteers from GE and 88 Charlies, a group that works with young people to restore aircraft -- to build the plane. See the full story on Fox 6 News  here.

Local Vets Take to the Sky in WWII Bi-Plane

More than a dozen veterans took over the skies over Waukesha County Tuesday in a World War II bi-plane.
"I've wanted most of my life to fly in an open cockpit like a Stearman but I never had a chance," said Robert Houck, a Korean War Veteran.
Houck was one of the first to take off off in a 1940s Boeing Stearman from Waukesha County Airport Tuesday, an opportunity provided by the nonprofit Ageless Aviation Dreamers Foundation, and sponsored by Direct Supply and Capri Senior Living Communities. For vide o: click here .
Operations Update by Matt Grenoble

WAMA Conference
Back in May, Kurt and I attended the Wisconsin Airport Managers Association (WAMA) conference in Oshkosh.
The conference featured many great forums with the FAA and the Bureau of Aeronautics on topics such as drones and the pilot shortage. I led a concurrent session on the basic duties of airport operations. Because the conference is attended by many of Wisconsin's airport managers and operations personnel, I found the networking to be extremely valuable. It was a great learning experience and I look forward to doing it all over again at the 2017 WAMA conference here in Waukesha!

Taxilane Clearance
Just a reminder, when parking your aircraft in front of your hangar, please try not to block any taxilanes or vehicle roads for long periods of time.  In some areas of the airfield, there is only one way in and out. T his becomes a safety issue when pilots or drivers attempt to squeeze by the parked aircraft when there is not enough clearance. We appreciate your help in maintaining a safe airfield.
4th of July Update
The annual 4th of July fireworks display at the Waukesha County Expo Center will be held on Monday, July 4 from 7-11 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The airport and Runway 18/36 will remain open at all times, however, at 9:30 p.m., Northview Road and Aviation Drive will be closed to everyone except airport tenants and customers. Please have your Airport ID badge available to show law enforcement officers who will be blocking the roads.

At 10 p.m., both Northview Road and Aviation Drive will be close to everyone - including tenants - to improve the flow of outgoing traffic from the Expo grounds. The airport service road around the approach end of Runway 18/36 will be temporarily open to tenants from 7-11 p.m. After this event, the service road will continue to be restricted to approved airport service vehicles only.

As a friendly reminder, if you are hosting an event, please keep plenty of trash containers on hand, so that the airfield remains free from Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and remember that all guests must be escorted while driving inside the airport fence. Please remember that you are responsible for your guests' actions and safety while on the airport grounds. If you have any questions or concerns, please  contact Kurt Stanich at 262-424-6747 or Matt Grenoble at 262-364-9145. Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable 4th of July!
