	IPO Alarming

Now you can monitor alarms on the full line of Avaya IP Office system including Server Edition Primary, Server Edition Secondary and Server Edition Expansion (L) as well as Applications Server, IP500v2 and IP400.

AlarmTraq 8.0 supports the full line of IP Office Platforms and is easy to setup for alarming using standard SNMP traps or optionally using an Aurora Gateway located at the customers location to report alarms to AlarmTraq over HTTPS for added security.

What changes are being made to SNMP alarming functionality?

Avaya Aura® Communication Manager 6.3.111 and higher releases, including the 7.0 release, introduce changes to the Communication Manager SNMP Stack, SNMP Subagents, SNMP Commands, and SNMP System Management Interface (SMI) Pages.

How do the changes affect me?

If you are running AlarmTraq version 7.5 and below you will need to upgrade to AlarmTraq 8.0 and use the new MIBs to ensure that it will interoperate successfully with the higher releases of Avaya Aura® Communication Manager.

What else do I need to know?

AlarmTraq 8.0 is required to support SNMP alarming from Avaya Aura® Communication Manager 6.3.111 and higher.

Alarming on Avaya Aura® Communication Manager 7.0

Secure alarming over HTTPS

When an alarm is generated as an SNMP trap message and forwarded to the Aurora Gateway on the customers network, the alarm is then sent over the internet or WAN using HTTPS and processed by AlarmTraq.

The alarms being sent are encrypted by the gateway, transmitted, and decrypted by the Web Service on the other side before processing.

Secure alarming with SNMPv3

SNMPv3 primarily adds security and encryption to SNMP Traps.

Authentication is used to ensure that traps are read by only the intended

recipient. As messages are created, they are given a special key that is based on the Engine ID of the entity. The key is shared with the intended recipient and used to receive the trap message.

Privacy encrypts the payload of the SNMP message to ensure that it cannot be read by unauthorized users. Any intercepted traps will be filled with garbled characters and will be unreadable. Privacy is especially useful in applications where SNMP messages must be routed over the Internet.

Automatic Traffic Measurements for Avaya CM

Provide your customers with comprehensive traffic reporting and help them make informed decisions regarding their voice networking requirements now and as their business grows.
