Dear LaGuardia Community:

Please join us this Wednesday, Feb. 7, 6:00-7:30 pm in Room 457 for a presentation on programming for your student.
Teachers and administrators will be on hand to provide information about the course programming process as well as how to help your student choose between Advanced Placement (AP) and non-AP options.
  • AP teachers and Assistant Principal of Social Studies and LOTE Mr. Mannino, will be present to talk about program options in mathematics, social studies, LOTE and science.
  • Assistant Principal (IA) of Guidance Mr. Mackey will be on hand to take your questions.
  • Head of Programming Mr. Moore will talk about how to use the La! Portal and discuss some of the complexities of programming.
  • Learn about the Naviance Course Planner, its uses and limitations.
NOTE: Please remind your students to attend the Advanced Placement Fair in the 5th Floor Dining Hall during lunch periods on Wednesday, Feb. 7, to find out more about AP classes.  Here is an excerpt about the AP fair from the Weekly Bulletin:
"All underclassmen are encouraged to explore more about our Advanced Placement (AP) Program. Colleges want students to take a rigorous academic program, which includes the most challenging classes their school offers; for LaGuardia, these are our AP Classes. Our AP Fair will allow you to speak with current students and teachers to find out more about the expectations of our 23 AP classes."

*The Academic Forum is a subgroup of the Parents Association focusing on Academic matters at LaGuardia. Meetings are held monthly on a range of topics with guest speakers and parent panels.
