Dear BCS Parents:
It is a great time to be a Brave!  We are very excited about beginning the construction phase of Our Future Together! Thank you for your financial and prayer support.  It is time to enjoy the process of watching your investment become a reality! In addition to all this excitement, normal school life has been continuing and the school offices are busy preparing for your student’s return. It is always a joy to be together again.

Families with students in both grade bands will dismiss at the later time. See detailed information in the elementary packet being sent soon.

School Calendar
Attached is the 2017-18 school calendar to help you get the school year dates set for your family. You will want to spend a little extra time reviewing your calendar this year. There will be a fall break in October and winter break in February. These additions help balance our semester days during the school year. Please note another change in the graduation ceremony time; it has been adjusted to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3.  Also as a reminder, please delay in planning your summer vacations to accommodate May 25-June 1 as potential weather make-up days.
2017-2018 Weather Make-up Day Plan
BCS will continue to utilize eLearning during the 2017-18 school year. However, due to the interruption to daily life eLearning can cause on your family, we plan to avoid back-to-back eLearning days. In the event of back-to-back cancellations, we plan to make-up the second cancellation day between May 25-June 1, which are reserved on the school calendar as potential weather make-up days.  More information regarding this change will be sent to you at the beginning of the second quarter.

School Communications
As a reminder, we utilize three main communication tools to share information with our parents.
BCS APP -  This app provides easy access to our school calendar, athletic calendar, PowerSchool, Lunchbuilders, Chalkmarks, Moodle, and more. Download the Blackhawk Christian School App in your App Store. The school App will be available on iPad inside of iTunes within 2 weeks.
School Messenger -  School Messenger allows BCS families to stay up-to-date on school information via automated phone calls and text alerts. School Messenger will be used for attendance alerts, school delays, and emergency notifications.

Constant Contact –An email messaging system utilized to send Chalkmarks and other pertinent information.  As a reminder, please keep your email address updated with your school office

School Directory
The School Family Directory will be available in the school offices by the middle of September.

In closing, let me say that God has richly blessed our school with committed families and an incredible staff. The one thing I know for certain, 2017-18 will be a year of building; building of faith, values, character and knowledge. Please keep our students and staff in your prayers in the coming weeks. I am excited to begin another school year in just a few weeks. I look forward to seeing you and your children soon!
