Celebrating 51 Years!

Greetings!

Spring's recent arrival reminds us of the importance of beginnings in changing lives. Each day, we bring new, exciting experiences to adults with disabilities that add up to great days!

We love giving back ! To celebrate April as Autism Awareness Month, we participated in fun events and activities to "Light It Up Blue" . In this edition, you will also see our many contributions, including volunteering and working in the community.

We also find time to create, learn and laugh with friends. We hope you enjoy seeing all the ways we shine!

Autism Awareness Month

In honor of April as Autism Awareness Month , we visited local police and fire departments and presented them with our unique creations. We also deliered tasty treats and decorated Chicopee, Springfield, and Westfield City Halls with our inspiring artwork.

We partnered with Chicopee Public Library for fun, interactive events for all ages: exercise classes, sensory storytime, a dietitian talk, window displays, iPad lounges, and craft projects.

Our Community Engagement Program went all out to "Light It Up Blue" with their amazing window display for the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce!

Giving Back

Our Springfield Program donated their handmade blankets to the children at Shriners Hospitals for Children.

As a part of their monthly Hope Project , our Litwin Center Program enjoys visiting with residents of Harmony House.

Out & About

We learned how to identify healthy food options and use coupons to save money while grocery shopping with a registered dietitian at Chicopee's Big Y store.

We are ready to work! Our enthusiastic job seekers regularly attend information sessions, complete applications, and interview for jobs.

Fun With Friends

Every month, we learn about table to farm foods with our friends at Chicopee FRESH. Recently, we practiced our chopping skills on carrots, squash, celery, and kale to make a delicious minestrone soup.

We love taking martial arts classes in partnership with Autism Connections!

March meant celebrating St. Patrick's Day with dance parties and photo booths - and a memorable visit from the Chicopee Colleen and her Court! As globetrotters, we also learned about the culture and food of Ireland, including making colcannon from scratch.

As a part of our commitment to wellness, we raffled Wellness Baskets filled with healthy, fresh foods. To reward their hard work, we also raffled off "Shine Time" for extra paid time off.

Developing Leaders

We are thrilled to announce our $15,000 grant award from The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts to continue our Leadership Program ! These uniquely-designed trainings are in partnership with Holyoke Community College and Springfield Technical Community College in order to further the workforce development goals of our region.
