October  2016 Newsletter
Stay Connected
The formal legislative session wrapped up on July 31, 2016. After taking the month of August to catch up on rest and relaxation Beacon Hill is once again teeming with activity.

The Alliance expects an updated draft of Summer Camp Regulations to be released around October 14 th . We will review these, solicit input from our Ys, and make public comment as necessary.

Public Policy Focus Groups
Your Alliance staff has been hard at work planning four Public Policy Focus Groups throughout the state in mid-late October. See the below section for dates, location, and registration. It is our goal to gather input from Y staff and volunteers on what topics you see as important and should have a legislative focus next session. Any Y staff or volunteer that wants to attend is welcome! These focus groups will inform the public policy priorities of the Alliance.

Budget Cuts
As we enter into the second quarter of the 2017 state fiscal year we are preparing for the Governor to make mid-year spending cuts (known as 9C Cuts). Please be prepared to call and email the Governor's Office, the Lt. Governor's office, the Secretary of Administration and Finance, and your local Senators and Representatives to tell them about the important work the Y does with children and families.

As you know the Transgender Anti-Discrimination bill became law in July 2016. The Alliance hosted two webinars for Ys on the law. If you are looking for any information, resources or trainings on the law please contact either Kate-Marie Roycroft at kate-marie.roycroft@maymca.c
or Peter Doliber at
