Fantastic aromas of blueberries, plums, bark and wet earth follow through to a full body, velvety and polished tannins and a wonderful finish. Refined and persistent on the finish. Drink in 2019 and onwards. #4 in JS's top 25 Brunello's of 2012.
97 James Suckling
Balancing power and grace, this wine delivers alluring aromas and flavors of ripe black cherry, raspberry compote, grilled herb, licorice and tar. Vibrant acidity and firm, velvety tannins provide freshness and structure, while a hint of pipe tobacco closes the lingering finish. Drink 2020-2032.

Always a crowd pleaser, the 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli is a beautifully crafted wine. It shows depth, intensity and loads of authenticity both in terms of grape variety and territory. Dark cherry and blackberry rise from the bouquet with spice, pipe tobacco and moist earth in tow. The wine is layered and nuanced. That Sangiovese authenticity comes through loud and clear on the palate. This is a mid-weight wine with polished but firm tannins and evident acidity. It shows a burst of freshness on the finish. Montosoli ages in large Slavonian oak casks for 36 months. It is fully equipped for a long aging future ahead. Owner Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini purchased two additional hectares of Brunello vineyard in 2016. They are located in an excellent position right under the Montosoli cru. Generally speaking, the Montosoli hill sees slightly cooler temperatures on average. In fact, Altesino's 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli has resisted the heat of the vintage. This wine stands out thank to its profound elegance and grace.

This finds good equilibrium between the ripe berry, cherry, tobacco, iron and tea notes. Firm and chewy, with hints of leather and underbrush on the long aftertaste. Best from 2021 through 2035. 1,250 cases made.
95 Wine Spectator
Tasted blind. Mid ruby with narrow, orange rim. Reluctant, savoury, minerally nose with only hints of raspberry and sour cherry. Energetic, tangy cherry and raspberry fruit and with crunchy, long tannins on the finish. Really unfurls aromatically on the finish.
17.5 Walter Speller (JancisRobinson.com)
These sangioveses are much more precise and finer than the bolder and riper 2011s. They have more in common with the legendary 2010 vintage and are most like the 2004s, a harmonious and gorgeous year for Brunellos" James Suckling on 2012 Brunello
