Hollins Alumnae Admission News                           Fall 2012

Hello from Hollins! We are delighted to provide you with a new quarterly e-newsletter regarding the role of alumnae in the recruitment of future Hollins women.

In response to an increasingly competitive market in higher education, Hollins is eager to share our strengths with prospective students with the help of - who better - our extensive and accomplished alumnae network.

Through reinvigorated programming related to alumnae admission volunteerism in efforts such as college fair representation, and a campaign to increase alumnae referrals, you have the capacity to positively impact Hollins' future.

Based on past involvement and success, Hollins has identified Hampton Roads and Richmond, Virginia, and Raleigh, North Carolina as pilot populations for growth opportunities over the next year.

Read on to learn how alumnae are influencing tomorrow's Hollins students!

Hampton Roads
Hampton Roads future alumna

Congratulations to Braden Cobb Wicks '01 and Allison McHenry Bough '93 for their recent appointment as recruitment co-leaders for the Hampton Roads Alumnae Chapter. In addition to a spring Admitted Student party and August Send-Off party for incoming students, this chapter has answered Hollins' call to action by staffing upcoming area college fairs and agreeing to welcome prospective students at an area reception on November 29th.

Raleigh alumnae

Targeted recruitment continues in North Carolina, with significant assistance from the Raleigh Alumnae Chapter. After last year's successful event in Durham at the Emily Krzyzewski Center, the chapter will host an event for prospective students on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Caf´┐Ż Carolina. In hopes of creating an opportunity for every admitted student to benefit from personal contact with an alumna, Chapter Co-Chair Brynn Hoffman '09 and active member Betsy Strickland '79 have assisted in identifying area volunteers to contact prospective students through personal, hand-written notes.

Richmond alumnae

As one of Hollins' most active alumnae chapters, Richmond alumnae have assisted Hollins in establishing a reputation for excellence in Virginia. With annual chapter events made available to prospective students, this chapter understands the significance of the alumnae and prospective student connections. Ashlee Kneip '06 will serve as the chapter's alumnae admission liaison and assist in reinvigorating the Hollins Book Award at area high schools. In addition, the chapter will work with the Office of Admission to support both fall and spring regional prospective student events.

Thank You!
