Passing of La Reine Teacher, Mrs. Madolyn Johns
June 2, 2015

It is with sadness that we share the passing of Mrs. Madolyn Johns, beloved teacher of La Reine High School from 1984 to 1991, on June 2, 2015. Mrs. Johns  taught English and Humanities, and was known as a loving and caring woman by all those that knew her.

Bishop McNamara will celebrate her life with a Memorial Service on July 18, 2015 at Mount Calvary Catholic Church at 10:30am, with a light reception to follow in Alumni Hall.

The La Reine Class of 1975 will be celebrating their 40th Reunion on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at The Maryland Inn in Historic Downtown Annapolis.

Bishop McNamara High School President/CEO Dr. Marco J. Clark '85 will attend the event, where he'll share details about how La Reine's legacy will continue at the future La Reine Science Center.

The Bishop McNamara Class of 2005 celebrated their 10th Class Reunion this past weekend.

Mark Herndon '92 Named Faculty Member of the Year
Institute of American Indian Arts - Santa Fe NM

Mark Herndon '92 received the Faculty Member of the Year award from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM. He is leaving IAIA after 8 years as a faculty member in studio arts. This is the third time he has received this award.

Margaret Ngami '11 In Civil Engineering

Margaret Ngami '11 graduated from Clarkson University in May 2013 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and is currently finishing her pursuit of a Master's of Science degree in Structural and Materials Engineering. When she completes her Master's, Margaret will begin her career as a Staff Engineer at GeoStructures in King of Prussia, PA this Fall.

Margaret will be defending her thesis, entitled "Characterization of Shrinkage in Alkali-Activated Concrete", this coming July. Following this, she will be presenting a portion of her research in an international conference in Ottawa, and will then teach middle and high school girls basic concepts in Civil Engineering in a program called "Horizon's" at Clarkson University. 

Congratulations on all of your accomplishments, Margaret! We wish you the best of luck in the start of your career!

begins his first season as Defensive Coordinator for the University of North Texas football team. Coach Cosh sits down with Mean Green Sports and talks about what led him to start coaching at North Texas with over 30 years of experience.

Congratulations to Adam Merkle '01 on earning his MBA from Georgetown University on May 15, 2015. While working on his degree, Adam had been working at Gannett as Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis.

Adam currently resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Amanda, who were married on October 25, 2014.
Brandon Joyner '11 Graduates From Elon University

Brandon Joyner '11 graduated with his BA from Elon University with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish.

He has accepted his new job as a Morning Reporter at WECT News in Wilmington, North Carolina. Brandon says: "I will be on in the mornings and will bring you up to the minute information, the minute you're up!"

Marian T. Cappello LR '72 passed away earlier this month. She is survived by Joseph Cappello '74, Judith Cappello LR '70, Patricia Cappello LR '76, Theresa Cappello LR '84.


Michael Calvin '72 passed away June 7, 2015. He is the brother of JoEllen Gass LR '66, Ann Ellis LR '69, and Margaret Brookman '71.
