Inaugural David Yue Research Award Presented At  2015 Young Investigators' Day
The memory and contributions of David Yue,  M.D.- Ph.D. '87, were recognized at the 38th annual Young Investigators' Day celebration on April 16.

Inaugural David Yue Award recipient, John Issa, had this to say about his mentor who died suddenly from cardiac arrest on Dec. 23, 2014:

"He was not only a great scientist and a passionate teacher, but also someone who cared immensely about his students and their success," Issa said. "For that reason, there is some solace in receiving this award, knowing that no one was as happy and proud to see their students do well as David Yue."

Issa is one of 20  graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, who each had the opportunity to showcase his or her work through slides or poster presentations. The

awards were granted in recognition of outstanding research and are named after notable researchers, including former faculty members or graduate students at The Johns Hopkins University.

Highlights from Young Investigators' Day 2015

Yue, a 1987 School of Medicine M.D.-Ph.D. graduate, was a professor of biomedical engineering and neuroscience and co-director of the Ph.D. program in biomedical engineering.

Gifts in his memory can be made to the David T. Yue M.D.-Ph.D. Endowed Scholars Fund. The fund will fulfill two important purposes:  (1) provide a succession of elite students, the David T. Yue Scholars, with financial support to pursue a combined M.D. and Ph.D. degree and to conduct pilot research projects, and (2) enable the M.D.-Ph.D. program at Johns Hopkins to attract exceptional individuals to the biomedical engineering track. Please make checks payable to Johns Hopkins University, memo "David T. Yue M.D., Ph.D. Scholarship." Gifts can also be made online at https://secure.jhu.edu/form/fjhm. Please call 410-361-6499 or email jdoher13@jhmi.edu if you have any questions.
