Greetings Dear Spiritual Family!
The Harvest represents our GRATITUDE for the BOUNTY that we are privileged to be experiencing - enjoying the fruits of labor, reward, ripeness, and birth.
For most of us, the concept of Harvest is associated with farming. There are many rich symbols within the process of farming, including the acts of clearing the field from weeds and rocks, sowing seeds at the proper time, watering the plants, and reaping the rewards of labor.
A farmer gathering his successfully grown crops is a part of the harvest. This process can be very time consuming and tiring. But after all the work is done, the farmer can rest in knowing that he is providing for his family and providing a valuable service to the world through his crops.
Thanksgiving has become our holiday (Holy Day) when we celebrate the Harvest.
Other cultures have celebrated the harvest through various rituals, including the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians. The gods of fertility and grain were acknowledged with offerings during these celebrations.
