AN EVENING WITH PEDRO RODRGUEZ (GUMARO)

PEDRO RODRGUEZ

Pedro Rodrguez of Gumaro is coming to town and we are thrilled to invite you to an evening of excellent food, wine, and conversation at Lot 2 on Friday, March 20. His bodega Gumaro has long been our favorite source of natural wines found in Ribeira Sacra.

On the steep terraced slate-vineyards of Ribeira Sacra in Galicia, a shy Colleteiro (person of the soil) creates the most profound, and age-worthy expressions of the Mencia grape. Production is tiny, and Gumaro's reputation for rigorous organic work in the vineyards and minimal intervention in the cellar has been firmly established. His wines are admired for their bloody, savage, and distinctive mineral expressions. Uncompromising with quality, Pedro's wines are a culmination of an obsession across various disciplines of viticulture that produce some of the most authentic and superb wines in northwestern Spain. Tasting his wines always leaves us intrigued and thirsty for another glass.

Our friends and neighbors at Lot 2 are preparing a special four-course dinner to match the wines. Chefs Daniel Rojo, Allison Plumer and guest chef Danny Amend from the former Marco's promise a delectable and thought provoking experience. We look forward to enjoying some of our favorite Gumaro wines (including a surprise or two) paired with Lot 2's culinary delights. Here is the list of wines:
