Q:  You use a lot of amazing vintage ephemera in your work.  How has your background as an anthropologist been useful to your art career?
A:  Collecting things runs in my family and I've been doing it my entire life. As an Archaeological Conservator for museums in Spain, I learned a great deal about buying and researching historical documents and images.  So now when I go to flea markets or old book stores in my country or Europe, it's like a treasure hunt. I'm excited to discover new color palettes and textures along with nostalgia about other times.  My motivation for searching includes botanical, technical and scientific children's educational books, fashion and more.  Obviously there is no glue involved when working on collages. I have enormous respect for old documents, so I prefer to scan them and work on them on the computer!

Q: How would you describe your style?
A:  I work as surface designer, product designer, artist, illustrator and researcher in Decorative Arts History. It's like living in different worlds, although related.

Q:  What was your favorite illustration assignment?
A:  I loved illustrating a book of sounds and traditional songs for teachers to assist in developing early language skills for babies (UNED University), because it has become a useful tool for special needs children and speech therapists.

Q:  What do you do in your spare time?
A:  If I ever have a free moment, I love to play with my son, share time with my husband and family, read, walk, cook, entertain, learn new things, browse old markets and antique shops.
