Colleen recommends:
Katie Brenner is living the perfect life in London, with a perfect job and the perfect apartment...on her Instagram, that is. The truth is that she's a junior employee who's boss asks her to touch up their roots and can barely make rent for her tiny apartment. But it's her dream to live large in the city and not go back to the farm where she grew up. Can she make her social media life become a reality?
Kym recommends:
This nineteenth-century novel is inspired by the real story of investigator Kate Warne, the first female Pinkerton agent. Kate is fiercely independent and is one of the best characters I've come across! Not giving an inch to her male counterparts, she has a brilliant mind, a knack for manipulation, and the ability to disappear into disguise, swapping identities like dresses. You're in for a real treat with this newest from the author of The Magician's Lie!
Caitlin recommends:
Complex and fantastical! Laini Taylor's universe is complete-- with a half-dystopian, half-fantasy background, and a "New World" sense of discovery. The world here is vast, as the characters themselves are realizing, and there is plenty to still see. Taylor sets up the next installment nicely. While the pacing is a little erratic, the intensity never lets up. (Ages 13+)
