A Tribute to Reggie McGee
|
|
It is with heavy hearts we acknowledge the passing of Reggie McGee, Captain of the “Loose Screws”. A longtime Club member, Reggie loved to fish and party with the best of us. He even took the “women” out one day to try their luck catching a BIG Rock Fish. That was an adventure he only tried once, as he preferred his friends Pok-E-Man and Bill Ambrose for “successful” fishing. After years of commuting back and forth to Lake Gaston, preparing the perfect retirement home, Reggie retired from Basic Construction in the Fall of 2017 to join his wife Jackie full-time at the Lake. His infectious laugh and jolly personality will be sorely missed!

Obituary
Reggie McGee, age 66, passed away on April 28th, 2018 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA. He was the loving husband of Jackie McGee and they enjoyed 43 years of amazing marriage. Born in Mt. Airy, NC, he was the son of Ray and the late Jessie McGee. Reggie graduated from Warwick HS in Newport News Virginia, before joining the US Navy. Upon returning from duty, he began his career with Basic Construction. He would go on to have a successful 46 year career, retiring late 2017. Reggie will be remembered for his hardworking, loyal, and dedicated life in which family and friends meant more to him then his own personal triumphs. Anyone who spent time with him was sure to share in laughter and feel his generosity. Those who were closest to him, knew he lived life to the fullest and with no regrets. He is survived by his wife Jackie, his children Reggie Jr, Corey, Erin, and his three grandchildren Rachel, Austin, and Karl III. Small gatherings to celebrate his life will be held for family and friends in Lake Gaston, NC and Newport News, VA. dates and times to be determined.

A Message From Our Food & Beverage Manager
Valerie Donski

|
Opening day for the pub and pool was a huge success! A great big thank you to everyone who came out over the weekend and provided help and support. The WYCC team is very appreciative of the positive feedback and patience of our members as we are stepping into the busiest time of the season with a new menu and new members on our staff.
Here's a quick update on the new POS system. We are currently waiting on some hardware to be received and installed. We hope to have it installed, conduct training and switch over to the Talech POS by the end of June.
Reminder to all full time and summer members, please know your member number and provide it to your server along with your last name when purchasing food and drinks. Have your membership cards available if you are a new member or have recently rejoined the club as our system will not have current and accurate information until we switch to the new POS system.
Member handbooks are available, and we would like to remind everyone to pick one up along with the new membership cards.
It is important everyone is aware of waterfront rules, pool rules and regulations! It is only fair to your fellow members to follow the guidelines approved by the Board of Directors to ensure everyone's safety.
Our goal is for all to have fun and enjoy the pool, but certain rules must be followed. Please refer to your member's handbook for updated rules. Here are some of most important ones:
- Attention: Please do not bring your own alcohol to the pub!
- Glass bottles and containers of any sort are prohibited at the pool!
- A member must accompany all guests (including children) visiting the pool.
- All members have to sign in their guests with a lifeguard.
- Guest fees are now $5 and must be charged to a members account, and will be posted on a monthly statement.
- A member is limited to 4 guests on any one day.
- Non-member guests may attend no more than 6 times per pool season.
- Children under 12 are prohibited from entering boardwalks, piers or ramps unless accompanied by an adult member.
