Volunteer Sunday
The Bible tells us that "there is a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and and time to dance."  We learn from this that we should celebrate the good that is being done and express our thanks to God and to those who have served. The high percentage of people who are involved in the outreach of our church is one of the great strengths of Ancient City Baptist!

On Sunday, May 29, our church recognized those who are actively involved in outreach. They included all school volunteers (in classrooms, libraries, clinics, cafeterias, book fair stalls, proctoring tests, Bright Start testing, special projects and Good News Clubs).

Volunteers serving the the Community Food Bank, Flagler Hospital, those packing and delivering for Feed My Sheep, Prime Time Singers who have voluntarily gone to Senior Care Facilities, Care Fest workers, those who collect and send stamps for missions, those who have helped in serving food for Young Life, workers with the Memory Care group of the Council on Aging and all VBS volunteers were all recognized for their part in the outreach of our church.

In addition to being recognized during the morning worship service, there was a special " Thank You Volunteers" cake served at the  5th Sunday lunch following the morning service and the song, As A Volunteer was sung by those who were gathered.

Feed My Sheep

We now know that we will have 40 families needing our help beginning June 9th. Those families include 133 children. Cindy Lewis and Carolyn Blake have already begun the process of gathering the food for this exciting project. An important part of this ministry is the partnership of so many families who provide food and grocery bags. The items we will distribute weekly to each family is listed below. Since all bags to be distributed need to be checked and re-checked, it is not important to actually bring the food in the same bag which will be used at distribution time. It's always nice if you decorate the bags to be used for distribution with Bible verses or attractive pictures.  These may be brought to the Fellowship Hall where they will be processed and delivered to the Webster School every Thursday in the summer.

Fresh fruit and bread will be a dded to the foods listed below. Some of the fruit and bread is provided by generous donors in the grocery and restaurant community.

WE NEED DOUBLED & DECORATED GROCERY BAGS ALONG WITH THESE FOOD ITEMS:

1 jar of peanut butter               1 jar of jelly                                 2 Mac 'n Cheese

3 Spaghetti-Os or Ravilio        1 box of graham crackers           Packages of fruit cocktail or peaches

Pop tarts

Enough food for 4 days for an average of 3 children.

VBS Workers Preparing for Whale of a Good Time
June 20-24 from 9 AM until Noon

Did you know that Blue Whales are the loudest animals on planet earth?  A human can shout so loud that the decibels number 70 and a jet engine can reach 140 decibels. But the Blue Whale is much louder, 188 decibels. Their tongue weighs more than an elephant! They can communicate with one another from a distance as far as 1000 miles!

These are just a few of the things children 3 years old through 5th grade will learn at this year's VBS "Ocean Commotion."  The fun will begin at 9 am and end at noon. There's still time to get on board but don't wait. Registration is easily done on line--click HERE.
Ancient City Christian Academy News

The Academy graduated 10 children from its VPK program on Tuesday evening, May 24. The sanctuary was decorated with festive balloons thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Shane Gipson of the Celebrations Party Store on San Marco Ave. The children were proud to be dressed in their caps and gowns. Cheryl Metsky, the VPK teacher, led the children in several songs while Janice Treadway played the piano. Peggy Woznick, ACCA Director, presented the diplomas. Afterward the families gathered in the fellowship hall for some delicious ice cream. Congratulations to all!

Hermie and Friends will be featured in the summer camp of ACCA beginning May 31 this year! Children will discover God's special gifts for them in a unique, hands-on format. The fun will include puppet shows, games, songs and Bible stories. Each day will feature something special; Monday is Show & Tell, Tuesday and Thursday will be Arts & Crafts, Wednesday is Fun and Praise with Miss Janice, and Friday will be really special...Splashing in the Water outside and a Movie inside!
