Kinship Families
Newsletter & Updates
January 2018

Thank you for the courage to welcome a grandchild or relatives child into your home with very little knowledge of what impact they will make.

Thank you for being driven by the hope and faith that you can make a positive difference in the life of this child.

Thank you for understanding the damaging impact of childhood trauma, and making every effort to help this child heal.

Thank you for putting your family stability, harmony and relationships at risk for the sake of a child.

Thank you for dealing with disappointments by getting right back on the horse and marching full steam ahead.

Thank you for taking in children under crazy circumstances and much uncertainty.

Thank you for putting your lives “under the microscope”, in essence, living in a glass house under the scrutiny of so many agency eyes.

Thank you for going to battle with schools, doctors, even neighbors, as an advocate for your child.

Thank you for many nights of little to no sleep as you have served as a comforter, consoler or watchdog.

Thank you for magically making the resources that you receive stretch far enough to make sure your children’s needs are met.

Thank you for being the “Transporter”– running kids here, there and everywhere.

Thank you for altering your home and lifestyle in order to provide a home for your child.

Thank you for seeking advice when you need it most.

Thank you for traveling the “extra mile” and more—over and over and over…

Thank you for laying out your life story– the good and the bad– in plain view, in order to become a guardian.

Thank you for participating in school team meetings and all of the extra activities that come bundled in with your child.

Thank you for your creativity and all the amazing, fun ideas and activities you come up with to help your children.

Thank you for asking for emergency help and assistance when needed.

Thank you for being the “first responder” to the multiple emergencies and crises with your children.

Thank you for being a counselor, a tutor, a coach, a friend and a role model to your children and teens.

Thank you for loving the angry, healing the hurt, guiding the lost, and correcting inappropriate behavior.

Thank you for staying connected with your children, long after they have left your home.

Thank you for being one of the most significant, lifelong influences in the life of your child or youth.

Thank you for being Mom or Dad when you didn’t need to.

We at Angel Reach applaud you! You are the real angels.

The Woodlands United Methodist Church
Christmas Miracles

A BIG thank you for providing Christmas gifts for 184 children and meals to 64 of our kinship families.

Our Sincere Thanks

The Woodlands Christian Academy students and Tom Earle, Director of Missions and Student Life, who helped coordinate a clothing drive. We sincerely appreciate their generous donation of clothes and shoes.
Angel Reach is excited to celebrate our students that are about to graduate from high school or will be receiving their GED's.
The 6th annual Always Pursue graduation dinner will be held on
Sunday, June 3 rd, 5-9  p.m. at The Woodlands United Methodist Church.
This is an event to celebrate each teen's success!

A designated mentor will be the student's guide for the evening for each student who registers. This mentor would be the contact person who would help them get fitted for the formal wear (provided), help with the essay for the scholarship contest, pray for them as they complete the school year and be their "family" at the event. We have a great evening planned with delicious food and inspiring entertainment but we need your help!
We would like a short 2-3 sentence that you would like people to know bout your teenager. Examples might be disciplined, hardworking, happy, caring, anything that you feel describes them. These will be read during the event.
There is also an essay contest with cash and gift card prizes.
-The essay topic is “How my past is shaping my future.”
-Essays are due on May 15th
-Two $500 awards for top 2 essays
-$50 gift cards for every essay submitted*
(*This is noted on the invitation that each entry will receive a “gift”)
Shared Treasures will be the fitting room for the free formal attire to wear to the event and attire will be yours to keep.

It will be a fun time of food, music, and celebration!
